The Wind Beneath My Wings
Wednesday marked the 6th day in a row where we were blessed with thick cloud cover. I haven’t seen the morning stars for too long now. And I suppose this is just a taste of what lies ahead. If nothing else, it certainly helps me appreciate sunny days so much more. I rolled out of bed on time, right around 530am. I took the necessary time to follow through with my usual routine at a somewhat measured pace. I truly love the early hours of the day where I can get in touch with my inner being.
My work day went by fairly quickly. We had a staff meeting in the morning and a leadership meeting in the afternoon. Combined, they ate up about three of the eight or so hours I was there. My afternoon run began right on time and went exceptionally well. And while I do a dumbbell routine along with my morning sit-ups and push-ups, I have been repeating my dumbbell weight routine after my run for the past couple of weeks. I can definitely see the added definition in my arms and shoulders. Once again, I was slightly over dressed for the moderate temperature. It reminded me to pack both my warm and cool running gear for tomorrow.
I left work sometime around 510pm and was home by 525pm. I went about my usual routine, short the evening nap. I was expecting Mindy tonight but knew that she would be slightly later than usual because she was visiting her ailing ex-grandfather-in-law. We had talked about having some wings, whether they be out somewhere or home made. I opted for home made. I make pretty damn good wings for lots of practice! I have a variety of sauces on hand, and always have celery and blue cheese dressing too. Mindy showed up sometime around 630pm – best guess.
Funny thing - She showed up with a package of her school photos, just like the kids bring home. I guess when you’re the teacher you get your picture taken every school year too! We had a nice time and enjoyed a batch of Jim’s flamin’ chicken wings along with celery and blue cheese, plus we had a glass of Shiraz. Yum – Yum! She needed to be home by 830pm. She left right around the bewitching hour. Good thing she lives so close!
I spent the next hour or so playing around with my electronic photo collection and playing guitar. I was in bed by 945pm with the television on and tuned to the National Geographic channel. I watched a special on the quiet years of Jesus. It was a very enlightening program that attempted to uncover his lifestyle by using archeological information known of that time period. I fell asleep around 11pm.
