Bad Boy, Bad Boy, Whatcha Gonna Do...

Yes indeed, another super day on tap! Just when I thought that we were done more beautiful weather comes. Today is expected to be 85 and sunny. A boating day in October – too cool! I wish I could've played hooky and done that , but, fact is, I had a new engineer starting today and it just wouldn’t have been right to place the burden of coordinating her first day activities with someone else. I slept a little late again this morning – 615am. That’s 45 minutes off target. I am becoming quite the slacker. Although, it’s not that unusual for me to go through a phase like this a couple of times a year. But being late wouldn’t be an option. Remember, I need ot greet my new hire, so I had to trim most of my “personal luxury” time out of my schedule. I did make time for the really important stuff (exercise, walk Sparky, coffee, breakfast and lunch prep). What I didn’t do was meditate and reflecting back, that was a mistake. Next showering, flossing and brushing my teeth, it's probably the single most beneficial thing i do. It helps center my day and gives me a much better perspective. I made it to work ten minutes early. I quickly took care of a few miscellaneous items before going down to greet my new engineer in the lobby. Wasn’t long before lunch time rolled around and it was time for a run. I got out at my normal time. It was already in the upper 70’s and it felt very warm given that it’s been a bit cooler of late. It’s funny how quickly our bodies can adjust to a certain temperature range. I talked to Mindy a couple of times throughout the day. Today was a really important day in her life so I wanted to be there for her. She seemed in great spirits – that made me happy! We planned to meet at my house and then go grab some dinner. I left the office around 515pm and was home by 530pm, and had taken care of all my necessary chores and such by 550pm. Mindy was there by about 610pm or so. We wasted little time heading out the door. We took the BM’er. Not many BM’er days left! We decided on the original El Vaquero, which is only about two miles from my house. It was a good choice. Their service is impeccable. No sooner than you put your butt in a chair and you’ve already got a drink, chips and salsa at your disposal. And I love chips & salsa! Further, once ordered, your food is typically there in less than five minutes - always piping hot and tasty! We were out of there and headed back to my house I would guess just short of 7pm. That’s when the drama began!! We were cruising down Trabue through the little known village of San Margherita, driving right into a beautiful sunset. Very lovely - like Mindy! Next thing I know, Mindy let out a gasp and pointed straight ahead to what I thought were children playing and chasing one another. Children playing? Not hardly!! Instead, what was unfolding was an episode of Cops! No shit!!! Suddenly we found ourselves right smack dab in the middle of a "on-foot" police chase. And the perpetrator was directly across from us on the front lawn of a home. One officer had his gun drawn and the other was swinging a Billy club. They demanded that the gentleman drop and place his hands behind his back. He resisted at first and we really thought that he would be shot. I was admittedly gawking – not thinking of the potential danger I had placed us in. I guess I just couldn’t believe what I was seeing right before my eyes. And just like on Television, a younger woman was yelling from across the street, “plaaze, don’t shoot em’ – plaaze, don’t shoot em’” As I glanced in my rearview mirror at the car behind me, a young lady was going nuts for me to get the hell out of there. She was obviously concerned for her safety. I obliged and began moving out of the way thinking that she was right. No sooner than I began pulling ahead, a cruiser came darting seemingly out of nowhere and nearly t-boned me. I had not choice but to proceed ahead, crossing right in front of him. He wasn’t happy with me. It was an over zealous Hilliard cop! My heart, and Mindy’s, was racing! Once back at my place we spent the next hour talking about all sorts of stuff. She headed home around 8pm. I spent the next couple of hours updating my Blog and tending to a few loose ends. I headed off to bed around 1015pm.
