Sabbatum/Dominicus

It's Saturday morning! I was up by 745am, right about my usual get-up time for a weekend. The sky appeared to be yet again gray and gloomy. And a quick glance out my bedroom window validated that it was still raining, however, rather lightly. My first order of business, of course, was following through with my morning routine, which I could do on auto pilot. It really takes little if any thought these days. I just do it! Of late, I have been trying to approach my weekends a bit more leisurely than in the past, allowing myself extra time to just be me! I am getting pretty good at it, but I still feel an occasional jolt to get a move on. Everything doesn’t need to be an urgent emergency though. Life’s not meant to be lived in over-drive all the time. With that in mind, I took extra time to sip my coffee and putter about the house. After my run my first chore would be stacking the new pile of firewood which was delivered yesterday morning and dumped on one half of my driveway. To complicate matters a bit, I had about 20 or 30 logs left from last year’s load which I wanted to get to the top of the pile so I could burn the oldest first. To accomplsih this meant I'd have to move them before stacking the new stuff. Then, after stacking the new wood i could put them on top. That's what I did. Too, I used my John Deere tractor and trailer to move the wood from the drive to my stacking point. That made relatively quick work of the project. In years past, it would take about 20 wheel barrow loads and a great deal of Jim’s energy to move and stack. With the tractor and trailer I was able to complete the work in five loads and in less than one hour ( I also made a pair of glasses :)). Plus, I am quite sure I was smiling the entire time for not being exhausted. After moving all the wood I was feeling even more energetic. I decided to take care of a couple other nagging outdoor chores like clearing my garage of more unnecessary clutter in preparation for winter stowage of both cars and mowers. Furthermore, I cleaned up some dead flowers and pulled a few unsightly weeds from my flower beds. It was now approaching 12noon, so I called it a day as far as yard work went. It was time to take care of a few indoor things and tune into some football. Before beginning anything indoors, I decided a fire would be fitting given the chilly temps and fall like day. Once my fire was roaring, I lit some candles and began making some really hot salsa. I would be taking some to Bob’s tonight as well as keeping some for my personal consumption. I used five different varieties of peppers; habaneras, chili, jalapeƱos, bell, and ordinary hot, along with red onion and just a couple of tomatoes. This was the hottest salsa that I’ve ever made, yet it was tasty too. After finishing up the salsa I did some vacuuming and finished up some laundry. Having a few hours to spare, I decided to make a trip to Barnes & Noble, Old Navy, and World Market. It’s time for me to pick out a couple new books to dive into, and I had promised Lindsey that I’d pick lil’ Jimmy (Rocky) up some fall clothing. Lastly, I wanted some Pumpkin Ale, and I knew they carriedit at the World Market. Once back home, I iced down a cooler of various beers, water, and soda to take along to Bob’s Buckeye game party. I talked with Mindy too. She was planning to come over sometime early evening. However, she was running a little behind but that was no big deal. I used the time to relax, read, and nap. I love my quiet time! Mindy called me around 600pm to let me know she was on her way. We had tentatively talked about making dinner at my house before heading to Bob’s party but we wouldn’t have adequate time so we made other dinner arrangements. She recommended Lone Star. Not the greatest food in the world but you can still get a pretty good steak there, and besides, it's the company not the venue. Mindy arrived in a matter of minutes. She looked extremely nice – rested & attractive. It wasn’t long before we were off to Lone Star in Mill Run for dinner. After a good dinner we headed to Starbucks for a couple of coffees. While there, I couldn't resist the tempting aroma of their whole beaned coffees, so I picked up a pound of their Arabian Mocha extra bold coffee beans for home consumption. After leaving Starbucks we were finally on our way to Bob and Mary Ann’s. I wished I had their number with me because we were about an hour and one half late, at least according to our discussion at Barleys last night. Plus, I planned to stop and pick-up a pizza, so that would take even more time. We decided to stop at Panzerra’s Pizza shop – a Grandview tradition. And what’s more, it’s only blocks away from their home. While Panzerra’s pizza is good, Minelli’s is still the best for my money. We finally made it to Bob’s around 815pm or so. I felt bad because they weren’t out in the clubhouse partying. It was dark and quiet. They were alone, snuggling, in the house because no one had shown up. But we were there now and determined to get the party started. Once we opened the clubhouse, the neighbors started showing up. It was a little chilly but isn’t fall supposed to be? As everyone knows, the game didn’t go as we might have hoped but it was a fun game to watch nonetheless. Penn State definitely had more fire burning in their bellies than we did. Everyone who tried my hot salsa walked a way seeking something to soothe the pain. However, almost all of them went back for more, indicating to me that it was too good to pass up! After the game (sometime around 11pm) Mindy and I headed back to my house. Once home we hung out and talked for a few before falling asleep. Sunday morning came around quickly. Again, the weather was much more like early November than early October. The temperature was barely 50 degrees and the sky was completely gray along with a chilly breeze out of the NW. I was up sometime around 730am exercising, walking Sparky, and making coffee. I made some of the Starbucks I’d bought the evening prior. I woke Mindy some time around 815am. I tried talking her into making breakfast while I went for a run. She just laughed! Instead, she took a shower while I went for a run. My run was invigorating and it woke me up! Upon my return, I made breakfast. We had Banana Nut muffins, Maple bacon, and scrambled eggs. By now it was almost 1130am, and Mindy needed to head home and I needed to get some things done around the house/yard, or so I thought. However, after Mindy left I thought that I’d lie down on the couch and the rest for a few, but minutes later I rolled onto the floor and the next thing I know the afternoon was history. I fell asleep and slept till 515pm. I heard my phone ring about five different times but I just couldn’t muster the energy to get up and answer it. I was numb to the world. Once I got up I made some dinner (left over cheesy fries from Lone Star – BAD!!!) and updated my Friday blog. Around 730pm I headed over to Mindy’s for a couple hours of snuggling. I'm quite sure that both of us were pretty tired. Of course she was more deserving of sleep than me! I had the easier day! I was home and in bed by 1015pm.
