Burgundy, Jo-Pa, & Minelli's

Saturday threatened to be yet another stunningly beautiful October day. I woke late for a Saturday, but given that I was up so late chatting on the phone, it’s no wonder. I first woke around 720am with a slight headache, so I took some Advil. And in order to give it time to take affect, I went back to sleep for another hour. Presto! It was 830am and I was all better! When I woke the possibility still loomed that I might be headed to the Buckeye game with brothers Tom and Glenn. But by the time I had completed my morning routine and had ran, it became clear that we weren’t. Tom sent me an email around 9am canceling and Glenn was still sleeping as late as 1050am. Given that it was a 1205pm kick-off, we should have already been there by then. I wasn’t too disappointed though. I secretly preferred not to go anyhow. Instead, I wanted to spend this precious day prepping my boat for winterization by giving it a final cleaning and removing all the gear such as life vests, water toys, anchors, and ropes. To that end, I headed over to my dad’s around 1215pm to pick up the boat so I could bring it home for the cleaning. By the time I arrived, Glenn was up and about. I stayed and chatted for about an hour and made plans for him to join Mindy and I for dinner. I was back home working on my boat by 130pm. By then the Buckeyes were behind 10 – 7. I spent the next 2.5 hours scrubbing and cleaning. To my disappointment, all of the tools that I left on board had somehow taken on rain water over the summer and had begun to rust, and in some cases rather severely. I wasn’t a happy camper. I probably spent a good hour cleaning the rust from two socket sets and some other miscellaneous wrenches and screw drivers. The one word that describes that exercise is TEDIOUS! At 430pm I took the boat back to my dad’s, and also picked up Glenn. Upon return to my house I showered and readied for dinner. Mindy showed up sometime around 630pm. We hung out for about an hour before leaving for dinner, and we caught the last part of the Michigan/Penn State game. Sorry Joe Pa fans! We decided on the Burgundy Room, which turned out to be a very good selection since no one wanted to eat a “bloating meal”! The Burgundy Room specializes in wine and “small plate” hors d’oeuvres - certainly nothing too filling. We left there and headed back home around 930pm. Mindy read my mind and suggested that we order a Minelli’s pizza for pick up on our way home. Great call! It was so good! Mindy had to be home around 11pm and left right about that time. Glenn and I stayed up and watched the Blue Collar Comedy Tour DVD. I think I fell asleep sometime around 1am. I had to be up rather early for a long day of golf tomorrow. BTW: the Buckeyes pulled off a minor miracle and won the game 35 – 24. Wow!
