..."the moon don't move"

Today marked the fifth day in a row where “the sun don’t shine”. If I were to allow it, this could be very depressing. Not I, however. Nope – not gonna do it! To apply just a smidgeon more pressure, I woke 45 minutes later than my desired rise time, too. I told myself not to rush despite the late start. Again, I still had 1.75 hours before my normal start time but following through on my most important morning routine is actually more critical than being on time. The routine impacts my entire day – not just the work day. I followed through on my plan. I took my time and did everything without rushing. Have I mentioned how much I despise being rushed? Despite my late start, I arrived at work by 815am. Not too bad given that I woke late. The work day moved along rather briskly, especially the first half of the day and even the early afternoon. I left for my daily run right on schedule. My “long” running gear proved to be a bit much for the air temp today but I had no choice because I failed to pack my summer attire too. Often, this time of year, I pack both just in case, because if the sun makes an unexpected appearance it can raise the temps significantly and it was 71 degrees when I left my office for my run. I worked up a quite a sweat! I had planned to get out of the office right at 500pm today so that I could carry on with my lawn chores once home. Given that we’re losing about 15 minutes of daylight each week, a crisp plan is necessary if I hope to remain on target. By the end of October I will have no choice but to resort to weekend lawn work. I was out the door by 505pm and home by 520pm. I went about my usual routine of walking Sparky and prepping for tomorrow AM. Immediately I jumped into my big reading chair to read and nap. I woke promptly at 6pm and jumped to task. I wacked, edged, cut, rode, and blew. I finished by 715pm. And I had to finish with my headlights on! After completing my lawn chores I took a quick shower and changed into my comfy clothes – flannel pajamas and a tee-shirt. The world just seems better when I’m clean and in my comfy clothes. I was behind a little on my Blog so I spent the next hour or so writing and updating. I called Mindy and we talked for about a half and hour or so – maybe a little longer. My goal was to be in bed and asleep by 10pm. I didn’t quite make it. The real story behind the Bridge of Sighs... http://europeforvisitors.com/venice/articles/bridge_of_sighs.htm Song of the day: Bridge Of Sighs, Robin Trower The sun don't shine The moon don't move the tides, to wash me clean Sun don't shine The moon don't move the tides, to wash me clean Why so unforgiving and why so cold Been a long time crossing Bridge of Sighs Cold wind blows The Gods look down in anger, on this poor child Cold wind blows And Gods look down in anger, on this poor child Why so unforgiving and why so cold Been a long time crossing Bridge of Sighs
