Deireadh Fomhair
All the skeletons are out of the closet!
It's October! Some of us old Q-FM'ers like to call it Rocktober! This first day of Rocktober was certainly a pleasant one. It was sunny, clear, and in the upper 70's - a blessing of a weather day. When I think of October I think of obvious things like Halloween and football, but I also think of Sean Meehan, perhaps my oldest "best friend". We've been friends since kindergarten. His birthday is in October and if memory serves me it's October 20th. Sean's one hell of a guy. I have him to thank for many things - some good, some not so good! :) He was a fantastic role model for working hard. I don't know that anyone had more of an influence on me in repsect to work ethic. He and I moved to Florida and California together after high school! Oh boy, were those the days or what!!!!! I should give Sean a call. He left a VM for me a couple of months ago.
October Facts:
October is the tenth month of the year in the Gregorian Calendar and one of seven Gregorian months with the length of 31 days. October begins (astrologically) with the sun in the sign of Libra and ends in the sign of Scorpio. Astronomically speaking, the sun begins in the constellation of Virgo and ends in the constellation of Libra. The name is from the Greek Word "octo" for "eight". October was the eighth month in the Roman calendar until a monthless winter period (summer in the southern hemisphere) was divided between January and February.
October begins on the same day of the week as January in common years, but no other month begins on the same day of the week as October in leap years.
Other names for October:
A traditional Dutch name for October is Wijnmaand (wine month) because the first wines of the year have ripened.
In Finnish, October is called lokakuu, meaning "month of dirt".
In Scottish Gaelic, October is called an Damhar, meaning "rutting time" (of stags).
In Irish, October is called Deireadh Fómhair, meaning "end of harvest-time".
In Turkish, October is called Ekim, meaning "sowing" because of the sowing of wheat.

Upa t 730am after only 3.5hrs of not so good sleep. Needless to say, I wasn't feeling too rested. But who would after such little sleep? Depsite being tired, the morning was truly gorgeous. I went about my usual Saturday routine.
I needed to get out to Home Depot to pick up a few things. Fertilizer for the lawn, light bulbs (outdoor spots and indoor incandescents) I ventured over to the New Hilliard Target and picked up a couple of needed items. Lastly, I stopped at Kroger to restock my weekly veggies. Upon my return home, I retired to my oversized chair and nestled in for some reading and a nap. Man did it ever feel good.
Mindy showed up sometime around 1pm. We hung out all afternoon. We had a wonderful time sharing. We had planned to go for a hike along the river and then catch some lunch, but instead we opted to simply spend some time together at my home.
After Mindy left I walked Sparky and then returned for another nap and a little more football. There were a few interesting games taking place today, Florida vs. Alabama, USC vs. Arizona State, and Michigan vs. Michigan State. Each had national championship ramifications, and their outcomes certainly were of interest to Buckeye fans. As it turned out, each of these games went pretty much as I expected. The bad guys won! Oh well, can't worry about the "other guy". Instead, you've gotta take care of business yourself!
I wasn't sure what I would do this evening but had thought about going to Barleys if I felt energetic enough. And after a couple short naps I did. I headed out around 730pm. The place was pretty dead, but then again, it generally is on a Saturday. However, Sarah, the event coordinator and ex-MCI'er, told me that last Saturday evening was really crowded and super busy. Probably was an after-game crowd. I've never seen it busy on a Saturday. In fact, I've been the only one at the bar on a number of occasions. Thad and Monica showed up around 845pm. It was good to see those two. After all, we hadn't talked in a few weeks.
I was on my way home sometime around 940pm and gave Mindy a call. I talk with her a lot. I really like her. She's a special person. Really special!
