What's Up Doc?
Wednesday promised to be yet another repeat of the past several days - sunny and warm. Sadly, though, the weather prognosticators reported that today would be our last “good” day for the foreseeable future. I hear that it may dip by about 20 degrees or more. Well, regardless, I appreciate the good weather while it's here.
I proceeded with my morning routine like any other morning except for one minor detail. I exercised, walked Sparky, meditated, and packed my lunch. You'll notice that I didn't make breakfast. That's because I had a doctor's appointment scheduled for 1045am and I was told to fast 12 hours prior. I could have coffee, however, but only black. I did.
Because the weather was so nice and predicted to go away after today, I dubbed the day a BM'er day! Once at work I prepped for yet another 9am team meeting. The meeting ended just after 10am and I left for my doctor's appointment. Because I was so hungry, I took my mid-morning snack as well as my running gear along with me so that I could, number one, eat something as soon as I was out of there, and number two, so I could run immediately upon my return. Given my druthers, I much prefer to have my run behind me before I carry on with any non-routine task. Another "jimmy quirk"!
My doctor's appointment went well. My Doc wrote me a new prescription for an anti-inflammatory that I originally got two years ago for my oft aching left shoulder. The specialist had originally told me to take two everyday and keep renewing the script but I resorted to only taking the med once a day. And once the pain was gone, I stopped taking it all together, and instead only would take one when it flared up on rare occasions. That served me well for almost two years. Lately, because of more golf and other added strain on my shoulder, I have suffered through a bout of pain and thought that it might be a good idea to get more of this miraculous stuff.
While there, I had my blood drawn primarily for a cholesterol screening, which is why I was asked to fast in the first place. My blood pressure was 140/80, which seemed high for me but they said it was normal and didn't give it any attention. It's generally 120/80, and with all the exercise I do, I expect it to remain there or even lower.
After leaving my appointment I stopped at the post office to drop a letter and then headed to the BMV to get trailer tags for my boat. You'd think that I’m taking up residence at that place, wouldn't you? This time I visited the one on Bethel Rd close to Bravo. This branch was much cleaner, better organized, and much more efficient. I was in and out of there in less than 20 minutes. Alright!
Once back at work I went right for the gym. And by the time I completed my run and was back at my office it was 135pm - just about my normal return from lunch time. The rest of the afternoon went fairly quickly. Mindy emailed and asked if I could leave a little early so we could meet up sooner. That was tempting! I checked the pulse of the center and let my peers know that I'd be ducking out a bit early. I was home by 4pm. Within a matter minutes Mindy was on my front porch! Now that was s sight for sore eyes! She looked absolutely beautiful sitting there on my porch. Even prettier than all the flowers!
We hung out for a few hours. During our time together we made some nachos, drank a glass of Shiraz, and looked at Halloween costumes on the internet. After Mindy left, I spent the remainder of my evening practicing guitar, reading, and blogging. I went to bed around 930pm. Don’t tell anyone though. In fact, if they ask, I went to bed at let’s say 200am. :o)
