We skied Snow Trails the weekend of January 10th with Bob & Mary Ann, Scott & Zach - our first day off from caring for kids since the arrival of Rocky & Landon
Kelly & Lindsey kept the boys. Jimaken kept Jacob & Bella. Mindy & I visited Holiday Valley in mid/late January with Bob & Mary Ann. We had a terrific weekend skiing. Fell in love with HV.
February:
We bought our own snow skis
Took both kids on spearate weekend to MRM for snow board/ ski lessons. both did OK until we took 'em up the big mountain. Yikes!
Mindy & I returned to Holiday Valley to celebrate our anniversay for 5 days - skied our asses off. Lots of snow. Lots of fun!
March:
Celebrated Mindy's 40th b-day at Barley's with lots of friends. I'm 40! Puke!
We had Rocky & Landon living with us since TG weekend '08. They went back to Lindsey and Kelly's end of March. It was blessing and a curse. We loved having them and felt it the right thing to do, but Kelly made it difficult for us to do as we saw fit for their futures.
Golf season returned in mid-March with a spurt of lovely spring weather. Got out a couple of times.
Visited mom's placefirst time in many years. Took her to lunch at steak house in Jackson. Shares she wants her ashes scattered over her father's grave in Hawaii, but later recants request.
April:
Celebrated Jacob's 9th b-day with a yard party
Had 30 cubic yards of top soil delivered for removing the heavy slope on the west side of the house. Kenny helped big time with his Bobcat.
Bought $300 worth of sod for the new dirt.
May:
Built Mindy a half-moon shaped stepping stone patio by the pond for Mother's Day.
June:
Mindy & I vacationed in Cancun, Mexico early June at the luxurious Fiesta Americana - Grand Coral Beach Resort and Spa. Top notch service, first class resort. Very few vacationers due to bad economic times and fear of Mexican violence taken against Americans.
July:
Family camp trip with kids at Alum Creek. The only time we got the boat out all summer. Like the summer before, it rained hard hours before we were set to depart. Took down camp in a muddy mess. Good grief!
August:
Bella looses both of her front teeth during the course of the month of August.
My dad is relegated to the use of a walker to aid in getting around. Has simialr problem to my mom - pinched nerve in lower back causing crippling pain. Needs surgery.
Gloria berates me in front of the family during Sunday dinner. Zing!
Meet Joe and Danny at the Diversity Club where we see Deena Sweeney band for the first time since last October.
Kids start new school year late August
Vikings sign Brett Favre
Mindy the kids and I visit Hayden Falls for first time in years. Lovely!
Jacob starts fall soccer season.
September:
Celebrated my 50th birthday at Barley's with friends.
Mindy took me to see my beloved Vikings play Clevleand opening day NFL 2009. Brett FAvre first game as a Viking. Adrian Peterson was absolutely amazing.
October:
Took advantage of Aspen Ski & Boards early ski tune-up special - $10 per pair
Carved pumpkins with kids
November:
Took kids/grand-kids to the Arena Grand movie theatre - Old Dogs
Hung Xmas lights and finished raking leaves
Jacob runs with me for the first time day after TG
Celebrate TG at Gloria's
December:
Hosted friends Xmas party Dec 12th
Hosted family Xmas celebration - December 24th (everybody but Courtney)
Brought brother Glenn home for Xmas as a gift to the family
Mom came to town and stayed three nights during his stay - first time she ever spent the night at my place
Skied MRM five times over Xmas vacation: Dec 17, 19, 21, 23, and Jan 2
Introduced Rocky, Jacob, Bella to skiing on Dec 21
