Not Just Any Monday...

It's Monday, October 10. Eight years ago today I began my career at CompuServe/MWAN/UUNet/WorldCom/MCI. My how time flies! A lot has happened/changed in these eight years; divorce, kids are now adults, new career, Sparky, 2nd college degree, and grand children. In addition, my running streak was just in its infancy - eight months. Suprisingly, a few things stayed the same too. I weigh pretty much the same as I did back then, and I live in the same house. many of my tastes have changed but i still absolutely love hot chicken wings. Now I love them from Barleys. Back then I loved them from Roosters. Monday was a repeat of Saturday and Sunday weatherwise. Cool, Gray, Damp, and Dreary. I know that sounds depressing, but it is what it is. Despite the weather, the day began well. I was up right on schedule - 530am. I had plenty of time to exercise, walk Sparky, drink some coffee, meditate, pack my lunch, and prepare my breakfast. I had yet another new employee starting today so being on time was doubly important. Is "doubly" a word? My work day started off just fine but was admittedly a little bit busy. I don't mind busy though because it keeps me focused on the task at hand. And as the day wore on, it only got busier. Lucky for me, I was able to get out for my run at pretty much my usual time. It was a lovely running day. I forgot to mention that I've been running in my long running pants and shirts since Saturday. The weather has forced such a transition. After lunch I got extremely focused on one or two major problems at work. The bigger of the two kept me there side by side with a couple of my best engineers until around 7pm. I was pretty tired when I finally left. I had made plans to stop over to see Mindy after work, so I gave her a call to let her know what was up. We were both hungry so I agreed to stop at Chipotle's on the way to her house from mine. After going home and taking care of my usual business, I was on my way. We spent the next few hours together just relaxing. It's nice to unwind with someone so special at the end of the day. I was home by 11pm-ish.
