Out with the rain and in with the Sun

Five geese a laying... Mindy liked my Red Bud tree some much that she clipped a branch in celebration of Arbor Day. I got up Thursday to yet another sunny day in paradise. The rains that rolled through Tuesday were well out of here and the sun's return on Wednesday only served to stimulate grass growth which further solidified my determination to cut mine later this evening. I knew too that I was at the end of my proverbial rope and was consequently feeling a lot of internal strife. What I needed was a day off work and preferably in concert with a weekend. With that in mind, I made the decision to ask for Friday off as long as the weather forecast continued to look pleasing. Because of this, today’s disposition was cheery and bright, just like the weather. The work day was intense and the day rather long. Still, I found my way out for a run right about 1230pm. The weather was extremely conducive to running as the sun was shining and the temperature moderately warm. I needed the run. It helped take the edge off. As the afternoon wore on and began to wind down, I finally received confirmation from my boss that I could, in fact, take a ‘comp day’ Friday. However, I was asked to login from home since Friday’s are a very busy day. That sounded like a good deal to me. That was music to my ears. I left work around 515pm after wrapping up a few miscellaneous items. On the drive home, I grew increasingly excited about the three day weekend ahead. I had so much planned for myself. This was a unique evening in that it would be a Mindy Thursday since she had swapped nights with her ex. But because of some special meetings she was involved with at school, she wouldn’t be over until 7pm or so. My plan was to be tending to my lawn as soon as I could knock out my routine chores. Everything went as planned and I was happily going about cutting, trimming, and edging my lawn when Mindy arrived. I continued feeling rather euphoric about the upcoming three day weekend. I needed this so, so badly! After finishing the lawn I spent the next couple of hours playing with Princess. Mindy suggested that we hot tub and I happily agreed. It was just what the doctor ordered after a couple of hours working the lawn. And because it was like a ‘Friday’ I cracked a couple of beers to help me unwind. Mindy left sometime around 930pm. I spent the next hour or so blogging and reading more about the Minnesota Vikings new uniforms. The change is subtle yet still exciting. What’s most noticeable is the return of purple pants for road games, and the conversion of their hum-drum jersey stripes to more of a horn like pattern. I gave thought to cracking a third beer but in the end opted not. It was way more important to get a good night's sleep and wake feeling good early in the morning. I was asleep before 11pm.
