Mundane
I woke feeling exceptionally rested after what amounted to a very busy weekend. It was time to return to the grind and once again begin the count down towards another weekend. I was a little stoked this morning because the weather was expected to build on what we’d started over the past few days – sunny warming trend. As best as I could tell, we would be spending the majority of the work week in the 70’s with only minimal amounts of rain. The Forsythia has been in full bloom since early last week and about half the lawns are needing a cut. My lawn, however, is what I would call a late bloomer. Sure, it’ll need cut a time or two in April, but it really doesn’t begin looking lush and healthy until Mother’s Day. It has always been that way.
After my exercise routine, Ykraps and I took to the streets for our usual morning stroll. I noticed on the way out the door that those damn sparrows have already begun building yet another nest against the front of my house in the thick English Ivy. I spent a lot of time over the weekend removing a few nests and cleaning up the mess they always leave behind. It now looks like I’ll have to resort to more drastic measures if I am to keep them away. I think they like the warmth of the porch light against the protection of the ivy. Tough!
Ykraps and I took notice of the beautiful morning starlit sky that only began to hint of dawn. Seeing such a view always helps me put life’s little set backs in their proper perspective. Back at home I coffee’d myself and then went about my morning meditation. From there I packed my lunch, made my breakfast, spent a little time on the internet, and then hustled upstairs to shower and dress. I almost said ‘for work’, but that would incorrectly imply that I do it for work, but the fact is I do it for myself.
Happily I found some guitar time before leaving my home. I didn’t leave until nearly 7:45am – a tad later than perhaps I should’ve.
Work was very much like the many, many days prior. We were busy – very busy. I was determined to stay on schedule today and avoid falling prey to late-late lunch demon. I like my routine and when it gets out of kilt, I struggle. I happily left for my run around 12:30pm and was greeted outdoors by temps still only in the mid 50’s, but sunny. With the sun being high in the sky, it felt much warmer. The predicted high was 65, which meant it still had some work to do. The run went well and I returned to the office feeling refreshed and ready for another go round.
The afternoon was busy still, yet I never let it get to me. I never got too immersed in any one thing. Come 5:05pm I was headed out the door for home. Mindy would be a little late by design on this Mindy Monday so my planned stop at Lowes wouldn’t be an issue. If you recall, I needed a part for my post lamp fixture. While there I picked up some floor cleaner for Mindy and got myself a new house plant, some leather yard gloves, and my lamp part. I made it home by 5:55pm and had Ykraps walked and back home by 6:05pm. I noticed too that our temperature did finally reach the expected high of 65 degrees. For the next half hour I got jiggy with my vacuum cleaner as well as taking care of several other household chores that I uncharacteristically ignored over the weekend.
Mindy arrived just as I was finishing up my vacuuming, probably close to 6:35pm. I continued with the chores I had started for the next half hour or so. Around 7:15 we made some nachos with all the fixins’, using the left over chips from El Vaquero and the taco meat from Saturday evening. They were delicious!
After dinner we laid around and talked. Mindy left sometime around 9pm. I spent the next hour or so reading comfortably from my reading chair with a short ten minute nap laced in there some where. Come 10:15pm I was in bed and expecting nothing short of a good night’s sleep.
