I Can't Believe I Ate The Whole Thing!
Tired, bloated, and hungry. That’s how I woke Saturday morning at Mindy’s. For my liking, dawn came around much too soon. I felt as if I needed another 2 or 3 hours sleep, but my burning desire to rise, exercise, and run ultimately won out. I just can’t lie peacefully in bed without stewing over what I should be doing and without constantly reviewing what needs my attention. Successful men don’t get that way by staying lazily in bed.
A quick glimpse out the bedroom window confirmed another cloudy day. I suppose that’s the trade off for the warmer than normal air temperature, though. I won’t complain. It was somewhere around 830am, and I needed some coffee. After freshening up, I found my way to the coffee pot. In the meantime, Mindy entertained her children’s needs. I thought that I’d suck down a quick cup of coffee then beeline for home where Ykraps would certainly be waiting with open …uhhh ... legs. Then, after our walk I’d go for my run. Plans changed, however. Once Mindy indicated that she was going to make French toast I resorted to plan “B”. After all, in planning ahead I did bring my running attire last night. So I dressed and headed out for a morning run around the golf course. It was fairly warm yet there was a deceptively chilly and stiff breeze blowing directly out of the west. The cool breeze only helped wake me up and take the edge off of the slight hangover I owned.
When I returned, the French toast was all but ready. Good timing! Incidentally, she made the French toast with some left over sourdough bread from the Kroger bakery. It turned out really nice! After about 5 pieces and some more coffee, it was time for me to head home and attend to some “Jimmy” chores and Ykraps’ needs. I loaded my gear and headed east. My first stop was Wal-Mart Super Center. I hadn’t been on a biweekly grocery shopping excursion in over three weeks. I spent about $80 – not too bad. I’ll go again next Friday so that I can get back into my normal routine. My next stop was Westpointe Video where I bought a new DVD – Madagascar. Home Jimmy home!
I pulled in the drive at 1230 sharp. Ykraps was now on bended knee and more than anxious to hit the door. I put the bag of ice I’d bought in the freezer and left everything else as it was. He needed to go out NOW! After taking care of business, Ykraps and I returned home where I put away my groceries. A look about my home only served to frustrate me. I am becoming inundated with clutter. It doesn’t take long. A little holiday excess, a few empty boxes, some bills, and a smidgeon of neglect, and suddenly you have a budding mess. That my friends, stresses me out! I had to remain on task despite the urge to chip away at the mess. My goal was to finish the second coat of paint on my bed project. So paint I did. I finished painting around 230pm. The bed looks great! Mindy and I made plans to entertain my girls at her place Saturday evening with the agreed upon arrive time of 430pm. That left me slightly less than two hours to do anything else I felt compelled to do. I was still tired, in fact, real tired, so I found my book, jumped into bed, and began to read. Two pages later I was off to la-la land! And man did it feel good. I slept for well over an hour. What’s impressive is that it was in bed. I can’t generally fall asleep during the day in bed. I must have been thoroughly exhausted!
After a shower and addressing a few loose ends, I left for Mindy’s. I arrived just before 430pm. Not long after I arrived, Ashley, Lindsey, and Lil’ Rocky arrived. We put in Madagascar, ordered some pizzas, and made a salad. A half hour later the pizza arrived and we all sat and ate. After dinner we played for a while before the girls had to leave. They left sometime around 7pm. Mindy readied her children for bed then we sat together like a couple of vegetables on the couch. I left around 9pm.
Surprisingly, the drive home gave rise to some new found energy. No longer was I feeling tired and lethargic. My first order of business was to again walk Ykraps (sorry for the screwy schedule, boy!). Once done, I decided to finally make the remaining sauerkraut balls, drink a couple of beers, and just plain chill! It was fun! I watched a little Mad TV then once again had the urge to sleep. I went to bed. Good night!
