Buckaroo!
It’s just before 530am and just like "clock" work, I crack an eye towards the clock, rise in my bed, take a drink of water, and promptly jump to my feet. It’s a new day, and it’s already Wednesday. It’s dark so at the time it’s impossible for me to determine if it’s cloudy or clear. However, it is winter and it is January. Whether or not it’s clear really doesn’t make much difference. It would suit me fine if we were gray through March, and then, except for a once week rain shower, remain sunny on out. Although, we all know that’s unrealistic.
My morning went well. I did my usual stuff, and it hasn’t taken long (just 2 days) to slip back into the routine of the daily grind. By 730am I was ready to depart for work but opted, of course, to delay that for a few and instead play a song or two on my guitar. Kind of takes the edge (if there even is one) off the morning.
My work day was steady but not too bad by any measure. I freed myself from the bonds of work by 1230pm to experience the joy of running on cushioned pockets of air provided by my preferred provider, Nike. I don’t know that I have yet to fully re-hydrate after the long holiday vacation. Running is so much less stressful on the body when fully hydrated. Aside from a round of curls early in the morning, this was not a “lifting” day.
My afternoon was similar to the morning in that it went by quickly. I left work at 515pm with two planned stops before heading home. One being Kroger to pickup a few items, and then to fill-up the Trooper given that the fuel warning light came on as I pulled into the parking lot this morning. Despite the two stops, I was still home by 545pm. Mindy was already there. We had discussed going to El Vaquero for dinner. And after doing my general daily duties we fulfilled our stomachs desires by doing the “Vaq”. It was extra tasty tonight! We used a gift certificate that I received for Xmas.
We headed back to m house directly after. We exchanged back rubs then tuned into the National Championship Football game. Mindy left shortly after 9pm. I blogged and read while watching a bit more of the game passively in the background. I went to be around 1050pm. I turned the game on my bedroom television, but fell asleep anyway. But oddly enough, I woke suddenly, just as USC was going for it on 4th and less than 1 yard. I remember thinking how arrogant and foolhardy it was to be going for it rather than punting. In the end it may not have made a difference had they punted, but it certainly would’ve eaten even more clock. Let’s see. Calculating backwards, there were 19 seconds left when Texas scored the winning touchdown, so if USC had punted, it would’ve probably ticked at least another 5 seconds off the clock, plus, they would’ve put Texas much deeper than the 40 yard line where the botched 4th down attempt took place, which would’ve have translated into more time being used to gain more yards. Good chance Texas would’ve ran out of time. But hey, Carroll is a good coach that already has a couple National Championships to prove it. I’d say he had a case of the Brett Favre’s. I fell back sleep minutes after the game ended. I’m glad I saw the dramatic end.
