Could it be the Water Within?
O.K., something seemed amiss, and the culprit had to be the movement of my mattress from a west/east orientation to a north/south. I found myself wanting through the night to turn sideways on my bed, apparently in an effort to reorient myself. Amazing! Also important, my ever present body clock. It's still working flawlessly even after ten days of rest and no hard fast rise times. I woke quietly at 530am just as I desired for my first day back to “normal”. Hmmm? Again, the body is an amazing machine.
On my way to my morning routine I passed my still standing Xmas tree and paused for a single moment contemplating whether or not I should light it. I did. What the hell! I’ll probably keep lighting it until the day it comes down.
After choking down my morning vitamin, I went about my usual exercise routine. By 545am I was done and ready to take a walk with Ykraps. Again today, the morning air was warm and moist, uncharacteristic of early January. It’s sure nice having this spell of mild weather when, instead, we could be in the grip of extreme bitter cold. As we walked, I could hear the rumble of the city refuse trucks in the distance. Yep, the world is getting back to normal. Soon the heaps of used gift boxes, bows, and wrapping paper will find their way to the city dump where they will lay in spoil for years to come. Some, of course, will be incinerated in an effort to move forward the greenhouse effect.
It was nice to settle back into my morning mediation routine. There’s something about meditating before the sun comes up that helps sooth the soul. The day has yet to taint.
In addition, I found it a bit exciting getting back into the morning rhythm of making my lunch and breakfast. My body is craving the return of a continuous stream of fruits and vegetables. You might notice, too, that I gained a few pounds over the holidays. It’s no wonder; I have been eating with reckless abandon. I’ll get that corrected over the course of the next few weeks. Everything in moderation!
Per my usual, I was ready for work by 730am. Before leaving the house I filled my new Starbucks travel mug and then stroked my guitar for a short spell (just like before). By 755am, I was parked and ready to enter the world of work. Thankfully, the day was rather low key. At least there were no huge undoing's to contend with. I went for my afternoon run around 1240pm- late by all accounts. I worked up quite a sweat due in part to the milder than normal temps. To complement my run, I completed a full cycle of dumbbells at its conclusion. Soon, I was back in my office enjoying my packed lunch (five vegetable salad, spicy hot tuna fish, and pineapple). I spent the afternoon cleaning up some issues and before I knew it, it was time to go home.
On my way home I stopped at the Hilliard Sherwin Williams store to pursue the crackle finish ingredients I would need to complete my bed project. They were helpful. I purchased the crackle finish as well as a tan undercoat that will show through the crackle coat, which will be black, of course. I have done four rooms in a faux finish, but have yet to do a piece of furniture. Even still, I feel really good about the way this will turn out.
I arrived home by 545pm and calmly went about my usual routine of walking Ykraps, prepping for the following morning, and doing some general tidying up around the place. Mindy was making our dinner at her place, and I had projected arriving between 630-700pm. By the time I completed everything I wanted to get accomplished at home, it was 635pm.
I arrived just before 700pm. The children had already eaten when I arrived. Mindy had everything ready and in the warming drawer of her top notch oven. We were having the final remnants of her pork roast and mashed potatoes. It was as good as ever. While I was eating, Mindy’s daughter Bella came to me wanting to hold hands, which I found very loving and endearing. I obliged. I noticed, however, that her hands were wet and commented that perhaps she had just washed them. Now remember, she’s three years old. She just looked at me and matter of factly said, “no, I just rinsed them in the toilet”. Now I don’t know about you, but I love kids and all, but c’mon - I was eating dinner! I am sure my facial expression went from one of loving joy to a look of shock and dismay. She thought it was funny, and so did Mindy. And truthfully, so did I. She meant no harm. I shrugged it off, washed my hands, and went about eating.
After finishing my E. coli, we played hide & seek for a while. Soon it was time for the kids to go to bed. And for Mindy’s kids that’s become a bit of a back breaker for me. They like to be “flown” into bed. While Jacob is only five years old, he weighs nearly 100lbs. And come to think of it, he also has a full beard (at least Mindy reports him being only five). Come 830pm both kids were in bed. We found the couch and began watching the Penn State game. I left just after 930pm and headed for home.
At home I changed into my jammies then found my latest book and big reading chair. I read till just before 11pm. To bed and asleep by 11pm.
