Wing Night At Mindy's
My plate
Family dinner prayer
Sunset over Africa - I mean Mindy's
I rolled out of bed at 5:40am anxious to get a peak at the carpet cleaning I had done just before bed the night before. I had cleaned no less than ten spots in the various rooms mentioned in yesterday’s entry. A glance out the window revealed a beautifully clear morning shaping up.
I was a little sluggish but nothing to get worked up about. After getting going with my exercises, I was feeling pretty darn good despite in being Monday. Like I often say, one can’t fully appreciate a Friday until one experiences another Monday. I have to remind myself of that about once a week! :)
I opened Ykraps’ kennel to free him from his bondage in order for our walk. There was no way I was giving him free run of the house after last evenings mess. He didn’t seem to mind. He seemed to be feeling normal on our walk, but I was still a bit tentative about his condition and what the day running free might hold in store.
When we returned from our walk I got busy with the second pass over the shit spots left by Ykraps. I spent about 25 minutes addressing them before I had to break off for morning prep stuff. After a quick email to Mindy, I got going on my breakfast & lunch preparation. I finished my breakfast at 7:05am and rather hurriedly went about getting into the shower and subsequently dressing for work.
I had no time for play before work which ate at me a little, but there was nothing more I could do. I arrived to work at 7:55am and cut my conversation with Mindy a little short for desiring to be in my office prior to 8am. Work was thankfully not too bad given that it was a Monday. Too, it was shaping up to be an almost ideal day weatherwise. We were expecting temps in the mid 70’s and sunny skies all day long. The temps heated up quickly and by the time I left for my run at 12:45pm, it was 70 degrees. I kept a long sleeve running shirt on until the half way point when I ripped it off and tied it around my mid section. The afternoon sun felt really good against my slowly browning skin.
After my run I returned to the office for a somewhat busy afternoon. I had a number of issues I needed to address before leaving for the day. I finally departed around 515pm and made no stops along the way. I did call Mindy who was making us wings for dinner and had already begun preparing them. I would need about 45 minutes at home before I could comfortably head her way. I took care of my usual chores then spent another 15 minutes touching up the soiled carpet spots. Anyone who’s had to do this knows how big of a pain it is to remove dog stains from off-white carpeting. I always seem to manage. After the clean-up, I retired outdoors to water in the grass seed I had planted the day before. I will need to water those bare spots each day for about ten days.
I left for Mindy’s at 6:20pm. I had to stop and get gas along the way. It was $2.59 at the Shell by Wal-Mart. Tuesday has been increase day lately. I arrived at Mindy’s around 6:40pm. Everyone seemed happy to see me, including Mindy. Jacob was excited to be eating dinner with us since Mindy and I seem to have converted his palate to one loving hot wings. They were extra tasty tonight!
After dinner and clean-up, Mindy allowed the kids to play outdoors for another twenty minutes or so. Soon, however, it was time for them to come in and get a quick bath and go to bed. While Mindy bathed the kids, I laid down on Bella’s bed for just a minute. Next thing I knew, Jacob came running in a body slammed me. I woke in shock! Mindy gave him an earful for waking me so abruptly.
Down stairs, Mindy and I jumped onto the sofa where we did what we often do. We just relaxed together and talked about various things. Come 9pm I up and readied to leave wanting to get myself a good night’s sleep. Mindy was already falling asleep anyhow. It wasn’t fully dark when I left, and I decided to stop at Wal-Mart on my trip home to pick-up the other half of my bi-weekly grocery list. I made it in and out of there in 25 minutes. I spent $54.
I was home by 9:45pm and quickly went about putting my stuff away then changing into comfy clothes. I had thought I was hungry but that must have been the grocery store thing. I wasn’t hungry at all so I didn’t eat anything more. I did do some additional touching up of the carpet though. At 10:00pm sharp I headed directly to bed. I thought about bypassing my book and trying to go right to sleep, but didn’t. I read about 3 pages before feeling satisfied and heavy eyed. To sleep I went.
