Trash Day Thursday
A macro of one of my many rose bushes budding.
My baby Ashley
I woke at 5:40am groggy but willing enough to get out of bed and get going with my day. They week is flying by at hyper speed as I sensed the weekend nearly upon us. A glance out the window once downstairs revealed a cloudy morning as expected.
After a round of exercise I leashed up my pigmy pony and went out for a stroll. The morning temperature was 60 degrees – very mild for this time of year by most measures. There wasn’t anything unusual about our walk. Instead, it was just another ordinary day.
Upon my return to the house I poured that first cup of coffee which always goes down well. Before taking to my morning meditation I changed things up a bit and did email first. By 6:20am I was meditating and did so for the next 12 minutes. When done, I went about the painstaking task of packing my lunch and cooking my breakfast.
After a reasonably quick shower I was ready to go by 7:20am. This allowed me plenty of time to play so I chose to take some photos of the morning view from my deck. Today I took some macros of my bussing rose bushes just as the sun broke through the partial cloud cover. I was hopeful that these photos would turn out good.
I left for work at 7:31am to a traffic pattern that was once again much more favorable than it is ten minutes later. Mindy called me at 7:37am or as I was approaching the Hilliard exit. We talked as usual until I arrived at work. Mindy would be in some ‘LC’ meetings this morning absorbing some reading techniques to use on her students. She wasn’t too enthused however, since her Masters degree is specialized in reading development.
My morning in the office was freakishly mild and tame. And you won’t hear any complaints from me. A calm day is a welcome event! Things got a little sticky around run time (go figure!), but everything worked out. I left for my run at 1pm. It was still mostly cloudy but not threatening rain by any means. The temperature was hovering in the mid 60’s. I ran today with music, which I hadn’t done in several days. The run went well and I felt a renewed surge of energy. I was back in the center and in my office somewhere near 2pm.
The afternoon wasn’t quite as calm as the morning but still, it wasn’t nearly as hectic as it could’ve been. I noticed come 3:45pm the sun had busted through the clouds and blues skies prevailed. A check of the temperature revealed 73 degrees. That alone further heightened my already good mood. As confirmed via email, Ashley responded that she’d be stopping by tonight for a visit with her daddy. That always makes me smile! I love her so much.
I left for home shortly after 5pm. I had in my mind that I would make a quick stop at my dad’s to pick-up is 4X8 trailer then go to Ohio Mulch to pick-up a yard of topsoil to build up a few spots in my backyard flower beds. Mindy was kind enough to get their number for me online an a call revealed they were open till 7pm. A cruise by my dad’s, however, revealed his absence. I decided not to take liberty on his trailer without asking. Besides, almost as soon as I hung up the phone from speaking with Princess, I was overcome with sleepiness. I really wanted nothing but a nap! I headed directly home.
Once home I finished my usual evening chores, including walking Ykraps then took to my reading chair with the intended purpose being a nap. After reading just a few pages I found myself drooling away. Surprisingly, I slept only for about 12 minutes and woke feeling refreshed. After a few minutes of a blank stare into space, I decided to complete some simple yard projects since the weather was so nice. It was sunny and 72. I decided to trim/sculpt the honey suckle bushes along the pond that grow into my green spruce trees. This is typically a twice a year occurrence. I’ll need to do it again in mid June. I spent the next hour or so trimming away. Amongst the honey suckle are also some wild grape vines that are very invasive. If left alone, they will quickly overtake the bushes and blanket them with their own growth. I cut them to their roots once a year. They’re nearly impossible to completely eliminate. I settle for controlling them.
I finished the trimming and clean-up around 7:30pm. I decided to take a quick shower since I had been buried in the brush, was sweaty, and was bleeding. Feeling refreshed I returned downstairs where I went about backing up my April photos to CD. I can’t recall how many, but I had too many pics for one CD so I had to split the load between two. After finishing the photo back-up I updated my blog then gave Mindy a call. We talked right up until Ashley showed up. I was beginning to think that she’d forgotten me since she didn’t arrive until just about 8:45pm.
Ashley and I hung and talked for about 45 minutes. We shared a bowl of popcorn & then I made a couple tortilla pizzas. She was going to stay for those but realized it would be 1030pm by the time they were done and in our bellies. She left for home instead. Before leaving she promised ot visit again over the weekend. I hope so!
When she left, I did some reading while passively watching the Reds game. By 11pm I was nearly falling asleep so I went on to bed.
The Reds won again 7-1 over the Colorado Rockies.
