A Lush Lawn

Ykraps just chillin' where he's supposed to. Darn it! I didn’t wake at 530am like planned but instead woke up at 5:40am. However, this did little, if anything, to change the pace of my morning. I was a little surprised to not see clear skies this morning since the moon and stars were out in all their glory before I went to bed last night, and because we were expecting a mostly sunny day today. But I took solace in the fact that it would soon clear. I pushed through my morning exercises as I do everyday, but again felt a little sluggish. The sluggishness was gone, however, by the time I completed the workout. Ykraps and I took our usual walk around the neighborhood and were back by 6:04am(by casual observation, we are usually back by 6:05am). After our walk I was happily sucking down my first cup of coffee, and then another. And just like most work days, I spent the next 20 minutes meditating. After meditation I sent Mindy an email and read the Daily OM, which today’s topic was about embracing your personal power. Next, I moved on to preparing my Wednesday lunch and breakfast. Today being Wednesday made it a tuna fish day. Aside from that, everything was pretty much the same. After breakfast I moved to the shower to make myself beautiful. I was ready to depart by 7:20am, so I had ten minutes available for personal pleasure. I left for work at 7:30am sharp. And again today, the traffic was noticeably lighter than it is at 7:40am. Mindy called when I was just short of the Hilliard exit, or about 5 minutes away from the office. We talked until I was ready to walk in the building. She would be having a very long day today since she had to facilitate some planning meetings after regular hours with the parents of students whom are struggling. My morning was a good one. We had a staff meeting and enough activity to keep things interesting. But rarely do we have a dull day. I kept a watchful eye towards the sky as lunch time neared. The sun was out but under the guise of ‘partly sunny’ clouds. The predicted high of 80 degrees didn’t seem likely given that it was only 64 degrees at 11:30am and only 67 when I left to run at 12:30pm. I hate to admit it, but I think that Mindy called this one correctly. My run went pretty well despite the unexpected wind blowing fiercely into my face from the northwest. But once it was at my back and/or side, I was aided along, so it’s a trade off I have become accustom to. I was back and in the shower by 1:30pm, and then back at my desk by 1:45pm. Before digging into my lunch, I spent the next fifteen minutes conferring with one of my lead engineers about a couple of problems/issues. At 2pm I returned to my office to finally enjoy my packed lunch. The second half of my day went well too. We were busy but not overwhelmingly so. I pressed through the afternoon’s issues as I would on any other day. Before leaving for home, I left Josh, my guitar instructor, a VM informing him that I wanted to postpone my guitar lesson tomorrow night until the 18th, and also make it the last lesson of the season (just like last year). As of now I plan to resume again in the fall. Soon it was time to look ahead towards my evening at home. Tonight’s goal was addressing my lawn even though it was still a Mindy Wednesday, however, as mentioned earlier, she would be working late and wouldn’t be over until 7:30pm or so. I was home by 5:30pm and immediately began addressing my chores. At 6:00pm I really wanted to nap but instead got right on my lawn responsibilities. I spent the next 1.5 hours working outside. When I was done I was rewarded with a beautifully manicured spring lawn. After finishing up, I took the next half hour to enjoy some time on my deck admiring the beauty of the evening. The sun was pressing against the tall trees along the pond casting their long shadows across my yard while the sunlight gently nipped the tops of the trees in my own yard. Mindy arrived while I was relaxing. She joined me on the deck. We talked for about 45 minutes but she couldn’t stay too long since she made that commitment to be home at 8:30pm from now on. When Mindy left I went about updating my blog from Tuesday, and did some miscellaneous web surfing. Through all of my eagerness to accomplish goals, I had foregone dinner. To make up for it, I popped myself some popcorn. After I finished eating my snack, I secured my home and headed for bed.
