It's Friday, It's the Weekend, Whoop-Whoop

I was up and bouncing around by 5:30am Friday morning to more of the same less than stellar weather conditions. Any concern I had over not getting enough rain to matter were gone, and from the looks of the forecast even in to late next week, we’re going to get plenty more. And while I am fine about it now, just a few more days of this and I‘ll be ready to head for the hills. Staying home Thursday night did my sleep quotient a world of good. I felt really good heading in to the weekend. Good thing too, since I will be on-call this weekend. I kicked out my exercises then leashed up Ykraps for our normal morning walk. After email and meditation, I began prepping for my lunch and breakfast. This was tuna fish day, albeit one without a bed of lettuce on which to place it. Somehow I figured I’d be OK, though. Come 7:00am I was finished with my breakfast and headed to the shower. I was groomed and ready for my departure come 7:30am. Work went very well, especially given that it was a Friday. We had several folks out today so a light and manageable day was in order. I couldn’t get too excited about the upcoming weekend though, because I would be tied to work, especially if anything ugly was brewing going into the weekend. Of late, that seems to be the norm. It’s just the nature of the beast. I left the office for my Friday run at 12:45pm and had to contend with light rain, chilly temperatures, and a pesky breeze. But I was back before I knew and ready for some lunch. After my lunch things began to get a little hairy and it was becoming obvious that I’d be dealing with a handful of issues through the evening hours as well as into the weekend. I didn’t get out of the office until almost 6pm. I went straight home. Mindy and the children were looking forward to my arrival. Mindy offered to cook whatever I desired (chicken, fish, salad). I wasn’t at all hungry and wasn’t really in the mood for a sit down meal. That just doesn’t seem like Friday to me. I guesstimated that I’d be there closer to 7:30pm. Even with that, I would have to accelerate through my to-do’s. Honestly, the thought of being away from my place of rest troubled me even though I love Mindy’s company. That coupled with the added burden of a work laden weekend began to overwhelm me. I went about my chores and got all of the small things that needed done, done. I walked Ykraps, prepped coffee (but didn’t turn it on), and packed all of my gear for a night away. I left for Mindy’s at 7:20pm and fought thick traffic all the way to Wal-Mart. Once beyond there, it was smooth sailing as is often the case. Once at Mindy’s the kids seemed excited to see me, and so did Mindy. It wasn’t too long after I arrived that it was time for the kids to go to bed. I helped a little. As Mindy finished up, I went down stairs and logged onto my computer to help push an issue at the office along. I worked until almost 930pm. I was exhausted. To remove the edge, I poured myself a CBC Pale Ale. When Mindy joined me, we selected one of the four DVD’s I brought along for our viewing pleasure. She chose Anger Management, starring Jack Nicholson & Adam Sandler. I’ve seen it a number of times but still manage to get a laugh. While enjoying the movie, I poured myself a second CBC Pale Ale. I think that I may have dosed for a few minutes during the movie but I can’t be certain. Nonetheless, after the movie and checking in with the office, we went to bed somewhere around 11pm.
