Jimera Flora 2006
The flowers are back!
It didn't seem like a Tuesday but it was. The predawn sky was once again clear, and the promise of yet another warm spring day hung in the balance. And while today promised to be almost early summer like, the bottom is expected to drop out of our local weather for the next several days. Because of this, I decided that today would be a BM'er day! To that end, I moved forward with my usual morning routine with a bit of a skip in my get-along.
While doing my morning exercises the smell of Ykraps' latest accident still hung mysteriously in the air. Something wasn't right. I mean, shit, I cleaned all the known spots well. On closer inspection, and following my nose, I uncovered yet two more nasty piles behind the sofa which were stinky but beginning to crust over. I knew that I had to tend to them now. Waiting any longer would only prolong the agony. So, after finishing off my exercises and taking Ykraps on his walk, I got down to business once again with warm water, countless paper towels, and the Resolve. This carpet behind the sofa is virgin carpet meaning' that its never been walked on. Removing stains is almost effortless, but removing the odor and all the sunken fecal matter was much more difficult due to the stiff, thick pile of the carpet. This will go down as one of the most nightmarish messes in dog lore. This is a close second to Reuben's famous tumor removal blood letting the first couple weeks living in this house. Then, I thought that I'd die when I woke from my slumber only to find puddles of blood flung into the new white carpet in almost every room in the house. Through the night, Reuben had scratched the stitches from his ear where the tumor had been removed. The dumb ass veterinarian assured us that he couldn't. And of course my ex-wife, Kelly was insistent on having him home against my better judgment . Come to think of it, that's yet another reason that she's my ex!
The vet took him back in and restitched his ear, kept him overnight, but sent him home the next day. Wisely, I thought, I stowed him in the garage the next day, not wanting to risk him bleeding all over the carpet again. This time, though, he tried eating his way through the garage door to get back into the house. Needless to say,
As you can tell, Reuben and I had somewhat of a tumultuous relationship.
Moving on... all that cleaning up put me a bit behind the eightball relative to prepping for work, but I didn't allow myself to become flustered or to remove critical pieces of my routine such as lunch prep and breakfast. I simply had to be a bit more efficient. Bottom line, I was ready for work at 7:30am sharp. All I sacrificed was picture time and guitar practice. But I was driving the BM'er today and that alone was enough to get my juices flowing! Vrrrrrrroooooooooooooom!!!! Vrrrrrrroooooooom!!!!
I arrived on time to work. As soon as I arrived I gave Mindy a call since I hadn't yet spoken with her. I don't like to talk when I drive the BM'er because of it being a five speed. Where would I get the extra hand? We chatted briefly as I strolled towards the building and made my entrance. The air smelt of late spring/early summer since it was already in the 60's and barely 8am.
Work was mildly busy but that’s what I’ve come to expect. Anything less is a blessing but only in small doses, otherwise I’d get bored. Sometime around 12:45pm I left for a run. The run was very satisfying as the weather conditions were absolutely ideal. It was sunny and 70 degrees. I was back from my run sitting at my desk by 1:45pm and enjoying my packed lunch. I pack a pretty mean lunch, by the way.
I worked hard all afternoon, but headed out the door for home shortly after 5pm. This evening was a Mindy Tuesday at my house, which is a rarity. Mindy had traded nights wit her ex, who had business out of town on Monday evening. After getting home and completing my chores, Mindy showed up. After a some relaxation on the deck we headed inside for dinner where we warmed leftover steak and made salads and green beans.
For entertainment, we watched American Idol. Tonight was Elvis night. Afterwards I predicted that Chris would be eliminated this week, even though I find him to be the most entertaining to my ear. He’s had a couple problems the last couple of weeks. Last week his voice gave out during his second song, and this week he chose a poor second song for his talents. And Priscilla Presley – what the hell has she done to her self??? Oh my god! She looks like a zombie! It looks like she ate some Botox!
Mindy left right after Idol. I spent the next hour updating my blog and ultimately went to bed and fell asleep around 1015pm. I planned to be up around 5am tomorrow morning.
