Ski School / Cadillac Jack's

Up early – about 645am I thought ahead and had my running clothes piled neatly in the bathroom making for an easy transition while not disturbing the others who remained sleeping Left for my run up Holiday Valley Rd towards Yodeler Lodge – all up hill - a gut buster! Mindy was up and in the shower upon my return. We needed to have the kids at the ski school next door by 9am even though class didn’t begin until 10am Mindy had bacon baking in the oven and was making scrambled eggs on the stove Started some starbucks coffee too Breakfast was filling. We had the kids at ski school by 915am. Yikes! We quickly learned why they suggested an hour early – it was packed Took 35 minutes to get them fully enrolled – they’re making a killing $85 per kid for all-day ski school (10am – 3pm) but worth every penny We didn’t waste too much time, although Mindy, Rene and I enjoyed a coffee with Bailey’s before hitting the slopes We were on the slopes by 1040am. With Jack & Goldschlager in tow, we were off! We did a couple warm-up runs off of Mardi Gras but after fighting a huge crowd decided to head to the less crowded Eagle lift and do the fun black runs it affords ( Falcon, Eagle, Hoot Owl, and Raven). We skied over there for about two hours before heading back to the condo for lunch Rene went to John Harvard’s for a while to give Mindy and I some ‘alone time’. Back on the slopes by 2pm, we did a few more black runs on the main face and then did Spruce Lake – their newest cruiser. Time to fetch the kids Mindy left Rene and I to ski while she went for the kids. We agreed to meet over by ski school in 15 minutes We met Mindy and the kids at 315pm. The kids were hungry but also wanted to show us their stuff We ascended Mardi Gras and then Cindy’s. Jacob progressed handsomely. Bella improved too, but still skis fast Cindy’s proved a little much for both – the top was admittedly mogully, steep, and icy – tougher than some blacks Bella bit it. Knowing her typical response, I encouraged the others to ski on. I worked with her one on one. She did much, much better. After skiing down, the kids needed/wanted lunch. Mindy & Rene wanted a nap. Back in the room we watched football, snacked and napped. I wasn’t sure that anyone other than me would want to go back out. But after a nap, everyone did. The kids were stoked. We agreed to ski runs they had become familiar with in class – Mardi Gras and Northwind. We must’ve skied Northwind at least ten times! The kids found a big jump and started going over it on about the 3rd run. Rene too Bella actually caught some air and stuck her landing on one run – very cool! We skied until 7:30pm – everyone was having a ball We tried to place a reservation at John Harvard’s but the wait was long – about 1.75 hours – Hell no! We opted instead for Cadillac Jack's – no wait and just a one minute drive Jacob and I order hot wings, Mindy lobster bisque, Rene a salad, and Bella spaghetti. We shared a pitcher of Sam Adams Winter lager Kept loose eye on the Colts/Ravens game – Colts won rather easily Back to the room by 10pm – after another beer, off to bed
