Digital Day ... ones and zeros ... 01-10-10

I woke just before 8am and headed downstairs immediately after brushing my teeth. It was Sunday, a no exercise day. After starting coffee I leashed up Ykraps, checked the temperature, and headed out into the cold. According to Yahoo, it was 8 degrees. Burr! Ykraps was struggling to breathe. He hadn’t eaten since Friday thus hadn’t taken his meds either. Can’t force him to eat. He seemed fine otherwise. Back at home I poured some coffee and sat down at my PC station. I checked in with work and found a couple issues needing my attention. It wasn’t long before I heard Mindy stirring. I was surprised that she was up and about so early with no real agenda. She seemed somewhat somber as she descended the stairs. I immediately asked if she were going to church. Nope! Mindy later expressed contempt for my coming to bed so late the night before. I reminded her that she slipped off to bed unannounced, and that I had expressed my intentions to watch Saturday Night Live ahead of time. She eventually came around. I wisely remembered to stretch before my run this time. I’m thinking it was just before 10am when I left for my run. It was sunny so I wore sun glasses. I ran only three miles, just as I often do on Sunday’s. I wasn’t back from my run for too long when Mindy left for the grocery store. She was gone for about 90 minutes. I passed the time playing around on my PC and also doing a little work. I didn’t have anything significant planned for my time. After all, I was on-call. The early football game started at 1230pm. I tuned into CBS to catch that game – the Patriots vs. Ravens. Baltimore pounded the Pats – wasn’t ever really close. I helped Mindy unload the groceries then headed up for a needed shower. I felt ten times better afterwards. Mindy was on the phone with daughter Lindsey when I went back downstairs. Their conversation centered around Lindsey’s school schedule and life plan. As Mindy & I predicted, the current plan is falling apart. I heard Mindy giving Lindsey our advice – the same advice we gave last summer. I won’t go into the finer detail but will say this. She needs to find away to make achieving her goals non-dependent on the whims of others. And we move on… The kids, Mindy offered, would be home around 3-330pm. We didn’t have an exact time. They must’ve shown up closer to 330pm. I was watching football while also listening to some tunes on my iTouch. The kids were riled up fresh in the dorr. Too, Jacob was being loud and harassing Bella from the first minute. Bella wasn’t home long before she begged off to Becky’s next door. Apparently she invited her over to play this afternoon last Friday. Bella doesn’t forget. Mindy asked that she come home at 5pm. Jacob was much more tolerable with Bella out of the equation, although he complained constantly about being hungry. But he is a growing nine/ten year old We watched football together through the early evening hours. Mindy said we’d be having pork nachos for dinner. That sounded good, but also fattening. I didn’t complain. The last Wild Card playoff game started at 4:30pm – the Cardinals vs. Green Bay. The Cardinals took an early lead – 17-0. Everyone, including me, believed it was gonna be a blowout. Green Bay stormed back in the second half and tied it up 38-38 and 45-45. It was an exciting game. The Cardinals missed a short field goal that would have won it at the end of regulation, ultimately sending the game into overtime. Yikes! Green Bay won the toss. The first play was a long bomb that they just missed connecting on for a TD. On the next play the Cardinals forced an Aaron Rogers fumble and ran it back for a TD and the win – 51-45. Wow! Great game. Three of the four games went my way. I took Ykraps on his evening walk during halftime. Earlier in the afternoon I got Ykraps to take his pill with a piece of rotisserie chicken. It made a big difference later in the afternoon and evening. We enjoyed our pork nachos around 6-630pm. They were especially delicious. After dinner I spent time working and playing. We were gonna watch the Simpson’s 20 year anniversary show but just couldn’t get interested. We tuned instead to the Science Channel watching a couple programs – one about teleporting and then another about alternative universes. Very cool! Mindy popped popcorn at Bella’s prompting. Mindy made sure both kids were in bed by 8pm. Both she & I were both complaining of being too tired all evening long too. Mindy headed to bed at 845pm. I headed up at 855pm. I was exhausted.
