Rocky Seven Jump House
I was up before 7am. Once again, it was sunny & warm – already well into the 70’s. I started some coffee and completed my exercises. I took Frankie out after a little internet time. She seemed in no particular hurry to get up.
I headed out for my run before it got too late. It was near 830am when I headed out the door. Kenny was already out cutting his lawn in preparation for the big birthday party and the bounce house, which was to be delivered sometime that morning.
I ran four miles but not without difficulty. I was sore from water skiing the day before. Both my shoulders and legs were stiff. I lived. Mindy was up not long after I got back home. Once the kids were up I asked Jacob if he cared to join me taking the boat back to storage and then shopping for Rocky’s birthday gift. If I failed to mention earlier, we were celebrating his birthday at Chrissy’s along with Jake, who just turned 12.
Jacob agreed to join me. Mindy shared that she and Bella would be out running errands, including a stop at Giant Eagle to fetch the birthday cake as well as beer for me. I asked for more Racer 5 & CBC IPA.
We took the boat back first. Boy was it warm! Felt like 90 already. We headed to the Mill Run Target next. Just a couple miles down the road. Along our drive Ashley called. Wanted to know what we were getting Rocky. I shared that we decided to skip the MP3 player he asked for thinking it would end up lost, sold, or stolen. And besides, Kelly won’t let them use her computer anyhow. Ashley thought she might get him a fishing pole. I offered to pick it up saving her the trip.
Jacob suggested a skateboard which I thought a great idea. While at Target, we picked Bella up a new skateboard too. We got Bella and Rocky a set of knee, elbow, and wrist pads too. We looked at fishing poles, but Target has a very poor selection. I vowed to head to Wal-Mart. They have always had a big fishing section. Before leaving Target, we picked up $30 in iTunes cards for Jake.
We drove from Target to the Dublin Wal-Mart just north of my office. It’s much closer than one might think. Can’t be but 3 miles from Target. We quickly found a real nice Zebco combo reel complete with a tackle box and tackle for $17. What a deal! I picked up some eye drops too. Running low.
I called Ashley along our drive home to share that we got the fishing pole. She insisted on paying me, otherwise, she said, it wouldn’t be from her. My baby’s finally growing up!
I thought about cutting the lawn once at home, but it was so hot and sticky. In fact, it was said to be the hottest day of the year. Meanwhile, Mindy headed upstairs for a nap. I decided to pack up the kids laptop in the box HP sent Friday. The box came complete with packing materials, instructions, and a prepaid 2-day FedEx shipping label. I went upstairs to let Mindy know that I was heading to the FedEx office off International Dr to drop it off.
I was gone no more than 20 minutes total. Mindy had our gifts for Rocky setting in large gift bags. We were expecting them some time around 2pm or just before.
Mindy woke a little before 2pm said she felt a heck of a lot better after her nap. She took the cake down to Chrissy’s house along with Rocky and Jake’s gifts. Lindsey and the boys arrived a short while later. And after Mindy returned, Joey & Shelly dropped off Kaileigh. They stayed long enough to walk down to the neighbors and check out the kids in the bounce house. They might’ve stuck around for 30 minutes or so.
The party was a mix of kids and adults. The expectation was that it would turn into an adult party near dark or after the bounce house was retrieved by the delivery guy. It was incredibly warm and humid, uncomfortable outdoors unless you were in a swim suit and wet. It was well into the 90’s.
I considered it too warm to drink beer. I stuck with ice water all afternoon long. Meanwhile, here was plenty to eat: subs, veggies, fruit, chips, and dips. I had my fill and then some. The bounce house served its purpose keeping the kids entertained all afternoon long. Around 4pm we did the birthday song, cake, and then gifts.
As evening set in, several adults headed out to play cornhole. I passed choosing instead to stay inside in the AC. We hung out with the neighbors until almost 830pm. We headed home with all six kids, our two and the four grand kids, for baths and pizza. We figured it to be a crazy night at home.
I took care of ordering the pizzas while Mindy bathed the children. I ordered 3 pizzas from Dominos online. Very efficient process. The pizzas arrived in less than 20 minutes. We need only to tip them. I paid for the pizza online. The kids woofed down the pizzas. Afterwards, they wanted to watch a movie. We ended up Watching Madagascar II. I hadn’t seen it before, at least all the way through.
One by one the kids fell asleep on the family room floor while watching the movie. I sipped two Jack and Cokes. Jacob bailed for bed first. I carried Landon up to bed after the movie. He’s quite the load! We headed for bed after the kids were down.
