Time to cut the grass

I woke at 5:35am feeling about as rested as one could possibly feel after probably the best night’s sleep I had had in recent memory. I slept for about 7.75 hours. Feeling so good made exercise and the entire morning go that much better. It was a chilly morning, cool enough that I threw on a jacket to walk Ykraps. It was only 51 degrees under clear skies. The expected high today was only 78 degrees. After the walk I made my first cup of coffee then did my morning meditation. Today’s meditation went better than most, and after I was done I had an extra bounce in my step that lasted all day long. We often find what we seek. For instance, if you’re focused on the potential for disaster and any possible negative implication of a given situation then those are the ones you’ll likely find yourself with or in. On the other hand, if you’re focused on what good could possibly arise and on solutions, you’ll almost always manifest that. It’s a matter of perspective and where you choose to place your energy. Beyond that it’s a habitual. We’re almost trained from our youth to prepare and avoid the negative thus we manifest it even if we think we’re trying to avoid it. After my shower I promised myself I’d slow my morning down and take some time to water my backyard & deck flowers so with a few minutes to spare, I forced myself to remove my dress shoes and put on my casual walking shoes then went out back. The watering was relaxing to say the least. Before stopping, I threw the hose into the hot tub to give it its drink (it needs an inch or two every few weeks). While waiting I played guitar on the deck in the beautiful sunshine. What a great, great way to begin my day. Too continue an already great day, I drove the BM’er to work. It was a superb day for the BM’er sunny, warm, and cloudless. Work was good too. I was busy, of course, but that’s the way I want it. I left for my run around 12:45pm. I hadn’t even hit 80 degrees so I ran with a beat up tank top that really should be tossed, but like my favorite ball cap, it’s so damn soft and comfy. I found my way back to my desk by 2pm. The afternoon got progressively busier and I could hardly believe it when I looked up and realized that it was already after 5pm. My evening goal was to complete my lawn chores leaving my weekend to work on home improvement projects – back deck door. I got home at 5:30pm and when I did I was suddenly overcome with sleepiness. I was so tired that I considered scraping everything until had a nap. Instead, however, I pushed myself through my three routine chores (make coffee, wash lunch containers, walk Ykraps). When I got back I grabbed my book and hit the chair. I read until my eyes were so heavy I could no longer stand it. I drifted to sleep so seamlessly I couldn’t separate the line between reality and dream. I dosed for less than ten and probably no more than five minutes. Regardless, it did a world of good. As I returned to consciousness I stared at the walls for a while until the motivation al juices within took over. Once that occurred I got crackin’ on the lawn. Mindy was due anytime. I just wnet ahead and got started on the lawn. After edging and wacking, Mindy pulled up just as I began the cutting with my push mower. Mindy and the kids went inside while I finished out of doors. After I finished the cutting with both the push and the tractor I used Mindy’s electric blower to rid myself of the trimmings and clippings. And while the electric cord is a real hassle, it’s certainly better than my gasoline piece of shit. After I finished blowing of the walks and beds, I gave the kids a hay ride in the cart with my tractor. They love it! After we finished our fun, Mindy saw the young Guatemalan boy she had met a couple of weeks ago and came calling for Bella so they could meet. His parents adopted him under similar circumstances as Mindy. While they all chatted, I showered. Unbeknownst to me, Mindy had been busy cooking dinner all the while I worked in the yard. She had whipped up pork ribs, salad, and a broccoli and cheese side dish. We were going to eat after the kids went to bed. By the time the kids were settled back in the house and asleep in bed, it was nearly 9pm. We, then, retired to the deck where we enjoyed the dinner that Mindy had prepared. It was very good. Early to bed. After our meal, a quick clean-up, and some conversation, we went to bed hoping for plenty of rest heading into the upcoming weekend.
