Ladies & Gentlemean ... The Weekend
Although we never made it to Barley's, here's the firkin!

I woke quietly trying not to disturb Mindy’s sleep. It was 5:35am and time to get up and get going with my Friday. The weather was superb, thus an enjoyable morning to be out on the deck, walking Ykraps, and driving my BM’er.
Despite this being a short work week, I was already looking forward to the weekend in part because we planned to be boating on Alum Creek the following day, and because we were expecting several days of sunny, dry weather, which would lend itself to making serious progress with my deck door project. However, whatever we would be doing this weekend it would be somewhat tempered since I would be on-call.
Work went well, but it was a Friday, and Friday’s are almost always dicey. This was no exception. I worked hard, and was mindful of everything going on even to a greater extent than normal since I would in effect, be taking work home with me for the duration of the weekend. I left for my run right around 1pm. It was a sunny, warm run, just perfect for a summer day. I was back at my office by 2:00pm and eating my packed lunch of the usual fare.
I spoke with Mindy a couple of times throughout the day. She was spending her morning cleaning and organizing the bedroom closets in my home. There’s a lot of old clothes, junk, and old electronics lurking amongst them. It’s a big job to be sure. Later, she was heading to her home to accomplish some tasks. She also let me know that she spoke with Lindsey and made arrangements for her and lil’ Rocky to come over later this evening.
As the afternoon wound down at work, things heated up as we worked hard to bring closure to some big issues. Again, I took an even bigger interest in their resolution since I would be dealing with any negative fallout all weekend otherwise. We managed to get all of the looming issues well on their way to being resolved so I left for the day. It was just after 5:30pm. I had planned to stop at the Dublin Wal-Mart on the way home to pick-up some new life vests for the boat. Because of the Britton Rd detour, I had to take Davidson to Avery, Avery to Hayden Rd, and Hayden to Wilcox to get there (not a big deal).
At Wal-Mart I found three vests (2 adult and one child) that would be just perfect. While there, I picked up a new fishing pole for Jacob since I know he loves to fish. It came complete with rod, reel, and tackle all for less that $13. That’s a deal!
When I arrived home, Lindsey was already there with lil’ Rocky, and Mindy had already begun making our dinner – chicken wings. After showing off the new goods I fired up the grill to prepare for the final minutes of cooking. During our dinner we asked Lindsey if her and lil’ Rocky wanted to join us tomorrow on the boat. They did. The kids played for another twenty minutes or so before Lindsey and Rocky left for home. I told her that I would call her in the morning before we were ready to go.
Mindy got the kids ready for bed and I read them a story. Before going to bed ourselves, Mindy and I spent some time on the deck enjoying a drink or two. And after the drinks, we got in the hot tub, which was just what the doctor ordered. It felt great! How does one survive without one? The answer, of course, is that if you haven’t had one then you don’t know what you’re missing.
We went to bed early - sometime before 11pm for not wanting to over indulge ourselves. This way, too, we would wake Saturday feeling eager and ready for our boating adventure.
