I Suck at Golf

Morning came fast and lucky for me, I choked down some Advil before retiring the night before. Mindy said that we didn’t get to bed until almost 2am. It was no wonder that I felt so tired – tired and admittedly hung over. In any case, I had to get up and get moving if I were to stay on track. I needed to exercise, walk Ykraps, run, shower, and eat before leaving the house for golf at 9:40am. For good measure, I found a Tagament in my travel kit to ease my tummy. By the time I had finished all of my usual duties, including a running, I felt one heck of a lot better. There’s nothing like a good healthy sweat to ring out the blood. Mindy had a hearty breakfast ready upon my return. I was worried that eating too much might throw me into a nasty hangover so I didn’t eat as much as I would have normally. After a shower I felt even better but still tired. I left the house for Bob’s right on schedule but had to make an unexpected return trip to pick-up my wallet. I got to Bob’s by 10:00am and soon we were on our way out east to Blacklick. The drive was almost entirely freeway so it went fast. We were on time and even a bit early. It was unquestionably one of the hottest days so far this year. It was hot, sunny, and very humid. Needless to say, we opted for carts. Blacklick is a well-maintained older course cut into the woods and sprinkled strategically with water hazards. I found water on each of the first two holes, but recovered nicely with up and downs to salvage two bogey’s. I struggled pretty much the rest of the day shooting my first round over one hundred for the year. If my golf game is anything it is consistently inconsistent. J I lost about five balls but found another two. We finished at or around 3pm just as the sky became overcast. The overcast was welcome due to the heat which had topped 90 degrees. By the time I had dropped Bob at his place and made it home it was 3:45pm. We were having dinner at Gloria’s this evening and I was expected to arrive close to 4:30pm. Subsequently, I had little if any time for a much needed nap. I took a cool shower, changed clothes, and then left for Gloria’s. I arrived just before 4:30pm. It was a quiet Sunday at Gloria’s since it was only Mindy, the kids, and her brother and Jeff. We had sloppy Joe’s, pasta salad, and cucumber salad. For dessert we had chocolate pie. I had two big pieces of pie and my tummy was stuffed about as full as it’s been in recent years. We left Gloria’s around 7:15 destined for my house. The kids and Mindy were staying the night with me. As soon as we got home we took Ykraps on a walk out back carefully avoiding all of the goose shit, which continues to annoy. The kids were in bed 8:30pm. Mindy and I spent the rest of the evening on the deck until the much needed rains arrived. We went to bed just before midnight.
