Sophie's Surprise
Bravo!
I woke just a couple of times through the night to glance at the clock. I woke at 7am feeling entirely rested and ready for the day to begin. After some morning snuggling I crawled shortly thereafter.
The first thing I did was choke down my daily vitamin and make a pot of coffee. I then began my exercise regiment. The morning sky was crisp and clear – another beautiful weekend morning! As I exercised I tuned into the weather radar because weather permitting, Mindy and I were planning on boating today and an early start was imperative. Even though it was clear now, there was a funky looking storm sliding down our way from Cleveland, which is extremely unusual especially this time of year. If it continued heading our way, the morning and most of the afternoon looked to be wash out.
As I walked Ykraps I noticed how much chillier it was than the day before. Still, if the sun stayed out, it would’ve been a great boating day. By the time I returned the coffee was ready. I made both Mindy and I a cup. Hers I took upstairs to deliver in bed. One point – Thank you! For the next hour I finished my Friday blog entry. Mindy joined me around 8:30am.
We decided that if the weather went south we’d catch a movie instead – The DaVinci Code. We enjoyed some coffee outside before the sun went away. Come 9am I readied for my run while Mindy prepared our breakfast. She decided to go ahead and attend Sunday church service too. The weather stayed sunny during my run but clouds were moving in from the north. Mindy was still getting ready for church when I finished. I helped finish preparing the eggs. When she came down we ate fairly quickly and then Mindy left for church. She drove the new Honda. While she was at church I downloaded pictures form Saturday, gave Ykraps a much needed bath, vacuumed the upstairs, and scrubbed the kids bathroom tub. I did all of that in about 1.5 hours.
When Mindy returned from church we checked movie times since the sky had completely clouded over. The movie had two run times that interested us, 2:10 and 2:45pm. If we rushed just a little we could easily make the 2:10pm since it was only 12:45pm. I showered and dressed in no time at all. I was ready to go by 1:20pm. We planned to buy our tickets first, and then pop over to Barnes & Noble to look for some books to take on our fast approaching trip. I had two titles I was interested in seeking.
We used an old AMC gift certificate that I had purchased a Xmas gift in December of 2004. This particular one was leftover after gifting all the nieces and nephews. I wasn’t sure that they would honor it but they did. It ended up costing us a whopping $3 for the two movie passes! It was only 1:35pm. We went ahead and walked over to B & N. There we spent about 15 minutes perusing books. I found one of the two titles I had wanted (Dyer’s, Inspiration) and another new one not on my list, Decoding the Universe. What I didn’t realize was that the Deepak Chopra book I had sought would not be released now until July 17th. Two weeks ago it was slated for a May 28th release. Not sure what happened there. At the last minute I decided to put both books back and instead buy them online via Amazon. I am always amazed at how much cheaper they are online. Usually about 40%!
It was 1:50pm, time to head back to the theatre. We found our way to theatre 17 and picked tow seats in the very top row center. After a short nap through the pre movie entertainment (I always do that) the coming previews and the feature film began. The movie was gripping from the start and stayed pretty close to the book as best as I could tell. Those that know me well, know that I don’t typically read novels so this was the very first movie I would see after reading the book. I enjoyed the book and loved the movie. What struck me most was the selection of actors. They all pretty much looked like I would’ve expected, especially the two detectives and Silas. I was very entertained and that’s why we go to movies, isn’t it?
The movie was fairly long, almost 2.5 hours. It was 5pm when we got back to my house. Where did the day go? The sky was finally turning blue to the north and the thick cloud cover form early in the afternoon was giving way to sunshine filled skies. Very refreshing! On the deck we tied up the lavender bushes that have fallen over from all the rain. Soon, Mindy’s children were delivered by Jim, their father. We weren’t at my house long though. Almost immediately we loaded up and headed to Mindy’s where she was planning to make us dinner.
Jacob decided to ride with me. Bella rode with her mommy. Mindy asked which I preferred, Salmon or Tilapia. I chose Tilapia. She baked the tilapia in a bed of butter and made a side of broccoli in Velveeta cheese. I made the garden salad. 30 minutes later we were eating. Everything was scrumptious! Immediately following dinner it was tubby time for the kids. Mindy ushered them away and I soon followed. We noticed then that Jacob had contracted what looked like poison ivy fairly heavily on his back and legs. Ouch! Mindy tended to it with some itch medication. Instead of a story, we let the kids watch America’s Funniest Video’s. They enjoyed it, but started acting out some of the stupid things people do. Ahh … probably not a good show for kids to watch.
Even though the show was to replace book time, Bella convinced me otherwise and I read her a short book – Five Little Monkeys. Jacob went right to bed. After the book I returned downstairs where Mindy and I watched the Simpson’s, War At Home, and Family Guy. I fell asleep at the end of Family Guy, but had seen that episode before. I woke right at 9:30pm and got ready for home. I was out the door before the sun had completely faded in the western sky. I thought for second about stopping at Wal-Mart on the way home since I hadn’t been grocery shopping yet, but opted not. When I arrived home I did some blogging then went to bed. Mindy called just as I was catching up on brother Glenn’s journal. If I understood correctly, someone has broken into his home and stolen his PC. Not good! I went to bed at 10:30pm, but before falling asleep I did a little reading.
