As If Not To Be Outdone

I joined the conscious world at about 5:40am. And while I woke a number times through the night, I got a restful night’s sleep. The heavy rains from the day and evening before had all but vanished leaving the streets and walks dry. It was still cloudy and the temp at first glance was 65 degrees - fairly warm for so early. After my usual morning routine Ykraps and I were carrying on with our morning walk. I was eager to check on the condition of my flowers and lawn to measure how well they recovered from the four straight days of scorching hot 90 degree weather. They both looked great. We got the rain just in the nick of time. By most accounts, we got over an inch. Despite the dampness in the air and about my deck, I had my coffee outdoors where I could feel the thick summer air and here nature unfolding a new day - priceless! After meditation and coffee I went about the daily task of making my breakfast and lunch. I skipped tuna fish today for no good reason. I guess I just didn't have the patience to prep my usual concoction. In its place, I had turkey & cheese. While enjoying my breakfast at the PC, I tried uploading photos to my webpage but netted the same results as several times before. It's not working. I even rebooted the system thinking I might have some cookie or preventing the upload. At 7:10am I had to stop fooling around with my blog and hit the shower and ready myself for work. I couldn't dress in my usual care-free Friday garb because of an interview scheduled with a potential candidate for mid-morning. Instead, I would dress business casual (Dockers and a button down shirt). I took several extra bonus minutes this morning to play a little guitar relegating my usual departure time secondary. I left the house in great spirits as I often do after some guitar playing. Mindy called just as I was approaching the outer belt on-ramp. She was headed into school to shut down her class room after a night of hell raising. She was out till 1am drinking and dancing with friends. She said she felt a little tired and maybe a little hung-over, but nothing too bad. Let's see, I go in for eight hours, will be off for 62 hours only to return again and again. She, on the other hand, is off for eleven weeks! Hell, football season will be heating up once she returns to work. Speaking of work, mine was busy, but most Friday's are. My interview showed up as scheduled and it went fairly well. We'll see. I left for my run at 12:50pm and it looked as if I'd be running in a steady rain. What made it a little gloomier was the cool temps. It was only 59 degrees come run time - a far cry from where were just yesterday. I had my fleece running shirt for days such as this one. It came in real handy too. I was about as comfortable as one could expect given these God forsaken conditions. After my return from the run I had hoped to return to my office to find a message from Safelite Auto glass confirming my Monday appointment, but that wasn't to be. So, I picked up the phone and called them. He, the acting manager confirmed that the real manager would be out on Monday after returning form his weeks vacation. All I expect and want is to be made whole (from a windshield perspective) just as insurance is intended. I finished out he afternoon in a flurry. We got exceptionally busy as we often do down the home stretch approached. As luck would have it, I am on-call this weekend so I had to be keenly aware of any potential disaster that might follow me home. Happily, nothing fell quite into that category but there were a couple hairy ones going on. Still, I was out of the office by 5:20pm and on my way home. Once again, I didn't head straight home. Instead, I stopped at Lowes to pick-up some chlorine for the hot tub and to look at a few other items. I couldn't find hot tub chlorine even though a floor person told me they handled it. It wasn't where it usually is. Rather than seek him out again I left knowing that I had enough for the weekend and I would stop at All Seasons Spas come Monday. Homeward! I arrived home around 6:30 and began my chores. I walked Ykraps and began cycling the laundry I had already started the evening before. Mindy had suggested she'd be over between 7:30 and 8:00pm. I had about an hour to myself. I spent the time blogging and once again trying to figure out my picture adding dilemma. As planned, Mindy showed up around 8pm. I had already made myself a Raspberry Vodka and Fresca. She wanted a glass of red wine. We pretty decided then that we would not be doing Barley's tonight after going two Friday's in a row. In lieu of Barley's we'd stay in, relax, and enjoy each others company. As the evening carried on, the sky cleared. Come 9:45pm, we got in the hot tub. It felt great. We stayed in for about 45 minutes and enjoyed some relaxing music via the deck speakers. By the time we got out, we were both beginning to tire. Around 11PM we headed upstairs. As I remember it, one minute we were cuddling and I thought that I might even get laid, but the next thing I knew I woke myself snoring. Good night!
