Beside Myself

Drenched in Sunshine! Awake at 5:40am and very well rested, especially compared to many recent mornings. For the first time in an awfully long time I don’t remember waking even once through the night. I didn’t even wake long enough to sneak a peak at the clock. This was gonna be a wonderful day even though the day began in a bank of fog. But given all the recent rain, it was no wonder. The grass, flowers, and ducks gotta be loving this. Ykraps and I took our usual walk after completing the morning exercise routine. Nothing out of the ordinary. If nothing else, it was exciting to note that I’d be able to enjoy a hot cup of coffee with all the usual fixins since I just restocked the night prior. As I alluded to in yesterday’s blog, I have been a little consumed with myself of late and haven’t been able to shake the monkey. But one thing about me is my undying determination. I WILL shake the monkey- just wait and see. I know that it all begins with quality meditation, and deemphasizing feeding my ego. Of course this is easier said than done. Just like … to avoid itching stay away form mosquitoes and poison ivy. Right! The meditation will take my mind off those troubling thoughts that whirl around endlessly inside my head until they become larger than my life itself. Go monkey go! Once again I was granted an extra chunk of time since I didn’t eat my packed lunch the day before. I wouldn’t have to spend ten minutes packing another one. Instead, all I had to prepare was a tub of nuts and then my breakfast. This afforded me more time for the things that I love to do - some guitar and then some picture taking. I got about ten good morning landscape photos. My yard poses well. And I always play the guitar better first thing in the AM for some reason. Fingers rested? Not sure. As usual, along my ride to work I talked with Mindy. She had yet another busy day planned for herself and it once again included dumping the kids at the sitter. But judging from her aggressive agenda, she might’ve been more relaxed at work. Aside form the usual busy day expected at the office, I had to finalize insurance for the Honda and figure out the title debacle. I’d find the time to squeeze in those calls. I thought that I might call my mom and Safelite too. Work was crazy busy, but then again, when isn’t it? I left the office for my run at noon, a bit earlier than normal. It was a warm, beautiful sunny day come run time. I worked up one hell of a sweat. My afternoon included a couple of meetings and an interview. I was busy to say the least. Come 5:00pm I was more than ready to run for the hills. I talked with Mindy before leaving the office and ended up heading straight home. We had agreed that I would take care of some household chores then find my way over to her house. I figured that would be somewhere close to 8pm, and I thought that I might drive the BM’er. My first order of business was to walk Ykraps and then I chose to take a nap in my reading chair. To put myself to sleep I did some power reading. It worked and worked well. Sometime during my nap I heard the tell tale sound of my back-up cell phone shutting down. What it was, was a power outage. I kept sleeping knowing I could do nothing about it. But after about fifteen minutes of sleep I woke feeling refreshed but groggy. Again, with the power being out, there wasn’t a whole lot I could do on my list since I had planned to trim some hedges with my electric trimmers. Instead I took out the trash and then fertilized my lawn. Because there was so much humidity in the air, I was soaked when I finished. I decided then to call Mindy and beg forgiveness for not coming over tonight. I felt a lot better just staying home and taking it way easy. Because I had some new found leisure, I chose not to push myself to accomplish too much. It just didn't make much sense. So, the rest of my evening was spent playing guitar, blogging, and reading - not much else. I ended up going to bed early too. Probably close to 10:30pm, although I can't recall exactly when.
