The Anti-Christ

Happy 48th Dennis Chilcote The unthinkable would be sleeping till like 10:00am or something. Me, though, I seem to freak out if I sleep past 5:45am. Today I slept till 5:50am. But I was discouraged only for a moment. When I saw my charming face in the mirror I could only tilt my head slightly to the right and smile. It’s all good! Still, I was groggy and dreamy – heavy headed if you will. What I needed was to finish exercising and get to a fresh pot of coffee fast. I have to think that the stress of all the ‘breakies’ in recent weeks is taking its toll on my happy go lucky disposition and beginning to manifest itself physically. I must find my center and reground myself. Today is Mindy’s second day of summer vacation. I do find pleasure in knowing that my other half is finding some peace and tranquility in life’s finer moments. She’ll be casually grocery shopping, going to the pool, and perhaps visiting me later today. And sure, she’ll sprinkle in some routine chores, but who wouldn’t. But she’s in complete control. I told Mindy as I was driving to work that just the sight of someone walking their dog in casual attire or jogging along a trail against a sunny & warm summer morning puts me in a favorable mood, one where I want to break the chains that bind me to an office. I yearn to be free. Free of the chaos that’s typically associated with any office setting or defined schedule for that matter. I want to play, tinker, & shop until I am bored. Then, when that’s all done I want to give and learn! Work was busy. With a few spare minutes I found in my day I called and spoke with my insurance agent about covering the Honda for Lindsey. He’s going to gather some data and get back with me. Soon run time was upon me. It was about 80 degrees when I initially set out. I ran without a shirt for the first time in a while. It was beautiful outdoors. My afternoon went exceptionally quick. Before I knew it, it was time to go home. Tonight would be a grass cutting night and Mindy and the kids we coming over too. I had thought about detouring at the grocery but didn’t. Instead, I went straight home. Mindy and the kids were already there. After some hello’s I completed a few chores then began my lawn duties. I always enjoy the oneness with my lawn. I spent the next 1.5 hours trimming, cutting, edging, and blowing. When I finished, I watered all the front yard flowers. I fired up the grill as soon as I was done watering. We were having hot wings and the final fifteen minutes of cooking time would be on the grill. I like the crunchy grilled flavor. Soon they were done. Bella doesn’t care for wings so Mindy warmed some leftover Sporano’s pizza for her. Along with the wings we had celery and salads. We ate our meal on the deck. The kids liked that and so did I. As the evening wound down and 8pm neared, Mindy gathered her things and the kids. They had put in a long day. After they left I did what I normally do. I blogged, watched a little of the Red game, and played guitar. I thought about fixing my toilet but didn’t. I also paid some bills. Come 9:30pm I headed to bed since I felt so tired. It was warm in the house and the air thick. I didn’t even bother trying the A/C. My neighbor Mike is supposed to fix it soon. After reading for awhile I heard a toilet, but didn’t know which one kicking on for a split second about every five minutes. It bothered me enough to get up and investigate. It ended up being the one I had repaired he night before. I suspect a worn flapper. I’ll have to look at closer it later, but did fool around with it for a few minutes until Mindy called to tell me good night. She expressed her concern with the obvious stress level I exhibited this evening during her visit. We talked for about 20 minutes. At 10:30pm I went to bed for good, but did watch the end of the Reds game. They won 7–0 over the Cardinals!
