Turkey & Noodles

I slept like a log. I woke at 5:20am with a dull headache. Lucky for me, it quickly dissipated after getting up and out of bed and brushing my teeth. I figured it had something to do with the way I slept. Save for drinking too many beers, I don’t get headaches very often. Relatively speaking, it was warm, just as the forecasters had predicted. The temperature rose Wednesday evening into the low 40’s and remained there until the wee hours of this morning - Thursday. However, by the time that Ykraps and I were up and walking outside the temperature was already on its way back down. It was in the mid 30’s. After doing email, coffee, Daily OM and meditation, I readied for my run. I didn’t bother waking Mindy since she was staying home from school today. She had a number of things she planned to accomplish – one, I am sure, was simply some time to herself. I dressed down a bit for my run. I wore my thinnest winter wicking shirt under my winter running jacket. I was perfectly comfortable for the duration. Nice run! Meanwhile, I was craving fried eggs. I was thrilled to see Mindy making them when I got back home – all without asking. The kids were already eating at the table and having waffles. They all seem to love them. Despite not going to work, Mindy was still running the kids to school and grandma Sharon’s. She seemed eager to have a day to accomplish tasks away from kids. I can relate. I finished my eggs then headed off to the shower. Soon, Jacob and I were off to the bus stop. We met Kenny & Jake just as we walked out of our door. Kenny & I shared stories of being ill over the recent TG holiday. He was much worse than I but for a shorter period of time. We tossed the football while waiting on the bus. Kenny said that Crissy’s been on him to get the Xmas lights up after seeing mine. Sorry, dude! Off to work. Gas was back down to $1.55 at Thornton’s. Prior to the holiday, I’d seen it as cheap as a $1.47, but it went up just in time to gauge the holiday commuters. I needed gas but thought I’d wait another day. I had a quarter tank. Work was exceptionally busy. There was plenty to do. Lucky for me, I finished all of my team’s performance reviews early Wednesday. There wasn’t much time for any administrative stuff today. I ended up at work a little late. I didn’t leave until 5:50pm. Mindy mentioned that my dad was over for dinner – more turkey & noodles. He walked Ykraps giving me a much needed break. The kids were being entertained by dad while Mindy was putting the finishing touches on our food. Dinner was yummy. The noodles hit the spot. I had three helpings. Afterwards, Mindy & I had a piece of pumpkin pie. Dad passed. Jacob had some of the chocolate pie. Dad must’ve left somewhere near 7pm. Soon after, Mindy gave J & B baths. Apparently we’re experimenting with the every other night thing – 2 per night. Winter months that should be fine. Bed time went much smoother on this night. Landon fussed only briefly as we placed him in his crib. Jacob’s finally sleeping in his own bed and Rocky is adapting to sleeping alone. Mindy & I chatted from the family room sofa before heading off to bed. Tomorrow’s already Friday!
