FedEx Delivers

It was hard to believe that it was already Thursday, the day when, more often that not, my thoughts turn towards the weekend ahead. It was 5:20am when I woke, brushed my teeth, and headed downstairs to begin my day. I could tell by glancing outside that it was far colder than the day before. My first clue - the ice on the deck. After a round of calisthenics I headed out with Ykraps. It was chilly indeed - about 26 degrees. I returned cold and ready to warm myself with a hot cup of coffee. It rarely tastes any better than it does after a cold morning walk. After play time, I delivered Mindy’s coffee. I promptly returned downstairs to meditate and later dress for my run. Because it was cold, I wore my warmest wicking shirt and also wore a fleece dickey along with the rest of my winter attire. I was very comfortable. Mindy and the kids were pretty much in the same position they’re in every morning when I return from a run. We are all creatures of habit/repetition. Resting where I generally sit were two cardboard boxes - one containing brother Glenn’s Xmas gifts and the other we received from Sears.com. It contained a new Wii wheel. We were hopeful the other half of that order would arrive later today. I planned to take Glenn’s box to work and then stop at Fedex on my way home. Mindy and the mini’s left near 7:30am. That was my queue to head up to the shower. However, before doing so, I made sure that I had Glenn’s mailing address in my Blackberry for use later. After my shower and before heading off to the bus stop, I sent my mom a birthday greeting. She requested that I not send flowers this year - “too expensive and they just die”. Couldn’t we say that about almost anything? Nothing stood out from any other day at work. We were busy . I didn’t take a lunch, either. Worked straight through the day. I ate my packed lunch - veggies, a chunk of leftover ham and cheese, and fruit. Mindy declared this evening leftover, hodge-podge dining. I got home a little later after stopping at FedEx on my way home. Fedex was much quicker and less bureaucratic than the post office. I chose 4-business day delivery with signature for $15. No line either. Finally at home, I walked Ykraps after warmly greeting everyone. Mindy fed the kids early. I eventually made myself a burrito with leftover taco meat. Jacob & I ate the rest of the chocolate pie for dessert. The other kids had candy. Later that evening, Mindy confirmed plans to have a sitter watch Rocky & Landon tomorrow (Friday) night so that she and I could have our date night. Jacob and Bella would be with Jimaken for the entire weekend.
