Work Mode Never Left

Happy 49th B-Day David Waters

Up as planned right at 5:30am! One of the few benefits of being on-call is that one never fully escapes into weekend mode, which also means one has little trouble transitioning back into work mode once the weekend is over.

I was engaged into my routine by 5:35am. I had coffee brewing and my exercise regiment underway. A few minutes later, fully exercised, I was out the door with Ykraps. It was a gorgeous morning albeit very dark. The temperature hovered in the mid 60’s. I had the sprinkler running all night long out back helping to perpetuate my lush green lawn despite the intense heat over the past few days. I planned to leave it run until just before leaving for work.

By 6:25am I had my first cup of coffee, enjoyed some internet time, and spent ten minutes meditating. It was time to run. I had a comfortable four mile run, and found myself back at home by 7:10am. By then, Mindy had my lunch prepped and my eggs ready for breakfast. She and the kids weren’t feeling well after battling what she deemed as allergies all weekend. I was still fine, but also a little suspect. I feared that they all were sharing a common cold.

This was Bella’s first day of school (Kindergarten). She’ll be going to school with Mindy on Tuesday’s and Friday’s along with every other Wednesday. Before heading out, we measured and noted her height and weight. We took some first day of school photos as well.

Because the Hilliard bus route schedule is still up in the air, I was expected to drop Jacob and Kenny & Crissy’s again this morning. I’ve got to leave the house by 8:10am and so far the bus isn’t showing up until 8:30 even though the driver says she’s planning to alter the route back to last year’s more Jimmy-friendly version (pick-up at 8:05am).

I shut down the sprinkler pump before heading off to work. Work was eventful. We had a lot going on related to the handful of hurricanes and/or tropical storms lining up off of our coasts. I didn’t take a formal lunch, instead I worked straight through. It felt like a blast furnace when I finally left for home. I felt unusually tired all through the late afternoon as well as on my drive home. Mindy picked up Chipotle for her and Jacob on her way home. I wasn’t that hungry at all and opted out.

I chose to nap after walking Ykraps, and got in a pretty good one. I wondered if I might be coming down with a cold. I mentioned as much to Mindy even suggesting that she and the kids gave it to me. Still, beyond feeling excessively tired, I had few other symptoms.

As the evening wore on, I screwed around with my PC trying to battle the recently acquired Vundo virus. I must’ve spent a good two hours fooling with that before heading to bed.
