Less than Remarkable Weather

I was up on time but a little a tired after only 5.5 hours of sleep. I went through my usual morning routine of exercise, walking the dog, coffee, internet, and a run. The clear blue skies from yesterday were now a thing of the past. In their wake was fairly thick cloud cover. In fact, the forecast looked bleak through the weekend with rain expected each day.

Regardless of the less than remarkable weather forecast, I was looking forward to the weekend. It would be a busy one. Mindy & Bella headed out at their usual time 7:20am. Jacob & I headed out at 8:05am. According to Mindy, the bus route problem has been resolved, so beginning next Wednesday I will be putting Jacob on the bus at 8:05am, just like last year. That’s a relief.

I arrived at work just before 8:30am. The work day was as busy as anticipated. It was full throttle all day long. However, I still managed to take a lunch, heading to the Anderson’s up off of Sawmill Rd. My goal was to pick-up beer & wine for our party Saturday night. The party incidentally has three areas of focus: my birthday, the OSU-USC game, and our friend Mark’s bon voyage.

The afternoon went by quickly, and soon the weekend was upon us. I was anxious to get home and do some relaxing. However, before heading directly home, I stopped at Kroger for some rum, Jack Daniels, and flowers for Mindy.

I handed Mindy her flowers after she and Bella greeted me outside in the driveway. The flowers seemed to lift her spirits, which was the intent all along. Mindy helped me carry in the $160 alcohol haul. Mindy was planning to make a run to Wal-Mart to fetch our weekly groceries along with food intended specifically for our party. Before she could depart, we needed to get my new grill out of the back of her van. Lucky for me, Kenny came over and gave me a hand lifting it out and into the garage. At the same time, I was busy unpacking and prepping my new air compressor. It took longer than expected to get it ready. Mindy was going to wait and have me put air in her tires but after seeing it would be a while longer decided to head out. Last second, Jacob decided to go along. Bella stayed home with me, but spent most of her time with her friends next door.

I thought that I might sneak a nap but didn’t. Instead, I played on the PC. Mindy was home in relatively short order. I helped her carry in the goodies. After Mindy got all the food put away she asked if I would walk down to the neighbors with her to fetch both kids. I declined at first but then had a change of heart. I grabbed a beer and joined her.

We ended up hanging out with Kenny & Crissy for a couple of hours. At one point I walked back home to fetch two more beers. We must’ve headed home for good around 1030pm. After the kids were tucked into bed Mindy & I got in the hot tub for the first time in many, many weeks. We soaked for a good hour all the while talking about our relationship.
