Meeting At Split Rock

Wow. What a spectacular September sky! The sky was crystal clear revealing more stars than I have seen in quite some time. Not only was it clear, but it was chilly too. It was only 54 degrees. After exercise, I thoroughly enjoyed my walk with Ykraps under all those stars.

I poured coffee for Mindy & I upon my return. I delivered hers bedside then returned downstairs for my usual PC time, meditation, and run. I wore shorts and a long sleeved running shirt. I was a little cool out the door. But a couple hundred yards into it I was comfortable. I ran four miles.

I returned from my run not in the best of moods. I told Mindy that I would make my own breakfast. She and Bella left for school around 7:25am. I was ready to depart for work around 7:50am. I spent the next fifteen minutes writing. Jacob and I headed down to Kenny & Crissy’s at 8:08am.Even thought it’s just two houses away, we drove the BM’er. Jacob wanted a ride. Turned out, Kenny wasn’t there. Instead, Bill, Crissy’s ex-father-in-law, was. After a few friendly words I was off for work.

The work day was both long and short. I didn’t take much of break which made the first half of the day drag. But come late afternoon and golf time, the day seemed to have flown by.  Interesting. I left right at 4:30pm.

We were meeting at Split Rock. And unless I am mistaken, we hadn’t played there since August 6th. The drive went quick in the BM’er. I thought that I was first to arrive, but after prepping my gear I spotted Bob Boyard on the putting green practicing. I must’ve misunderstood Bob I. I thought he said Bob B was in Phoenix

Bob Imber showed up about five minutes later. As usual, we weren’t held up or pushed. We played the back nine. My play was marginal at best, although I had three decent shots (15’ or less) at birdies but missed each of them. I had two eights sprinkled in my round as well. That’s why I shot a ‘50’. There will be days like that.

We finished with plenty of daylight remaining. We asked the starter if we could play a couple more holes. She graciously allowed us the opportunity to play holes 1 & 9. I played both good. We hung out in the parking lot for a good fifteen minutes after golf chatting about work and about the possibility of taking a day off work for a golf day, just as we did last September. We may play Chapel Hill or another of the top notch courses within fifty miles.

I arrived home around 8:40pm. It was almost dark by then – only dim light hanging on in  the western sky. The kids were already down, but Mindy said they were waiting for me to tuck them in. I headed up to find Bella still awake but Jacob already asleep. Mindy offered me a leftover Subway sub but I declined in favor of leftover tacos. I figured I should enjoy them before she throws out the meat. J After choking down some food I made myself a Jack & Coke – pre birthday celebration. Mindy and I had a long talk mostly about our relationship.  We headed up to bed around 11pm. I don’t think we fell asleep until after midnight. I knew that I’d be tired come morning.
