Under Slept

I slept like a log! I saw 530am come and go. I didn’t wake again until Mindy upped and started the shower process. Man is that loud and bright! How can anyone sleep with all the lights and shower running. It’s just not fair!  I ended up sleeping until 715am or so. I was still hugely tired but staggered downstairs to begin fulfilling my duties just the same. The first thing I did was send my boss and email indicating my expected tardiness. I predicted a two hour delay, or 1030am arrival. Next, I completed my sit-ups and push-ups. Mindy left for work a little after 730am. I spent the time between then and bus stop time sipping coffee and relaxing. The kids and I headed out to the bus stop at 805am. Bella asked if she could handle Frankie. Yes, but make sure and hold the leash tightly. OK, Daddy. We weren’t out the door 10 seconds when Frankie dashed off jerking the leash from Bella’s loose grip. Instant panic ensued as Frankie ran towards Woodie and the road. Chrissy, who had Woodie on a leash, went dashing after Frankie. I yelled for Chrissy to stop. I figured if Woodie stopped, Frankie would as well. Chaos at the bus stop. I took over the leash after Chrissy finally corralled Frankie. The bus arrived on time – 817am. Mrs. Vanorder told us that she’s trying to get the time changed (moved up). As it stands now, she’s getting to school just as the bell rings. I won’t hold my breath. I headed home and readied for a run. I got out the door at 835am. I ran the full four miles even though I thought about trimming it to three for being so damn sleepy. I made it on pure determination. Once home I cooked eggs even though I wasn’t all that hungry. I didn’t want to skip breakfast. That’s never good. I was ready to leave the house around 10am. I took Frankie out for one last hoorah before departing. I had a difficult time coaxing her back in. It was a lovely morning. I couldt hardly blame her for wanting to stay out. I coaxed her in by shaking her treat bag at the back door. Works every time! Off to work. I arrived at work just after 1030am. After quickly getting situated I sought out my boss to discuss last night’s conference call. Because of my late arrival, it was mid-day in no time at all. The day was flying by, and I was fading quickly. I could’ve slept on command. I was tired! I managed to stay alert and busy until 5pm. That’s when I packed it in and headed for home. Just before leaving the office I ordered the purple case for Mindy’s new Droid. I had already told her she couldn’t use the new phone until we had a case for it (protection). I also ordered more ink for our printer. I love HP’s website. More often than not, I get free next-day delivery. Can’t beat that even by making a trip to Best Buy or Staples. Mindy emailed that the kids left for dinner with Jimaken. I’m glad she sent the email because I was thinking he wasn’t taking them this week. She wanted to know if we were doing Barley’s. Heck, I had Thursday scheduled off - why not? Mindy and I headed off to Barley’s within 5-10 minutes of me arriving home. During the short drive, Mindy shared a recent conversation with Rene, whom we haven’t hung with in months. I miss her. By the sounds of it, we may be seeing much more of her again soon. The parking lot was about what I expected - half full. Janet was tending bar. I was surprised to see such a short list of Barley beers on tap, and no IPA! Janet teased by telling me that the IPA should be on in a matter of minutes. A minute later she told me that she lied. Oops! I went with a Pale Ale instead. Mindy ordered a Russian Stout. We ordered food too. Can’t recall what Mindy had, but I had a Texas Pile it On Burger. It was good, but not as delicious as the one I had last week. You’ll have that. While eating, I kept a loose eye on the Reds/Giants game. At one time, the Reds were ahead 10-1. It was 10-3 when I first joined from the bar. Long story short, by the time Mindy and I paid our tab to leave, the Reds had squandered their once big lead. They were trailing 11-10 in the bottom of the 8th inning. Mindy stopped to chat with a teacher friend as we made our way to the car. I must’ve waited for ten minutes in the car. I laid back and tried taking a brief nap. I gave her a little crap about making me wait. More than anything, I was crazy tired. To that end, I bet we weren’t home ten minutes before I collapsed on the sofa. I didn’t wake again until 11pm or so. I headed directly to bed.
