Almost a School Day
I was up at 530am feeling well slept and ready for whatever the day might bring. I noticed immediately that the ever present gnawing sensation emanating from my stomach since roughly Xmas was nonexistent. That lifted my spirits much.
I completed my calisthenics and then a little PC time before heading out with Frankie. She was quick to take care of business. We were back inside by 600am. I returned to the PC where I checked the weather. It was a balmy 74 degrees with the humidity approaching 80%.
Staying on track, I completed meditation and stretching by 630am and was ready to hit the road a few minutes later. Given the warm, wet air, I was sportin’ a sweaty slick in no time at all. I felt good through the run’s duration. I found myself back at home by 715am. There, I wasted little time organizing my lunch and starting my breakfast. I made a cheese and bacon omelet.
Off to the shower by 735am, it felt an awful lot like a school day, which is a good thing given that school starts in two short weeks. My schedule needs to be synchronized to the kids bus routine. Summer’s gone fast. Seems like only last week I came home to a house full of cackling hens (school teachers) celebrating the end of the school year. Speaking of which, one of them was drinking Boone’s Farm wine.
I took Frankie and coffee upstairs for Mindy. Frankie was a little fired up. I was out of the shower and ready to go even before 8am. The weather forecast was iffy, just like the day before. I thought better about driving the BM’er, and instead took the Trooper.
Work went well, but another very busy day. Like most days, I didn’t bother taking a formal lunch break. Instead, I ate my packed lunch from my desk around 1pm. Sometime after 3pm I phoned my doctor’s office to get the results of my h.pylori test, although half expecting to hear what I heard. “Sorry, those results aren’t back yet. Try back tomorrow.”
Around 4pm I took my second dose of Dexilant hoping to maintain the lack of symptoms I experienced after dose number one. I left work for home at 515pm. I knew it was supposed to be a kidless evening, but wasn’t sure what Mindy wanted to do for dinner. As most know, we often do Barley’s on these nights.
I arrived home shortly after 530pm. Oddly, Mindy was stretched out on the sofa and the house quiet. She’s never been much of a napper unless she’s ill. Turns out, she wasn’t ill, but instead just tired. We briefly discussed dinner options. Quickly decided to stay home – no Barley’s. Mindy and the kids had earlier been to Chipotle and brought home chips and salsa. I made a pig of myself with ‘em. Couldn’t help it. Chips and salsa are a weakness of mine.
We used the few hours the kids were gone to relax. Mindy remained stretched out on the sofa while I read and napped from the family room chair. Mindy disappeared at some point. I figured she was next door at Chrissy & Kenny’s. At some point around 8pm I got up and ate the rest of my new Cuban leftover from Barley’s Monday night. Again, it was good but not even close to its predecessor.
The kids didn’t get home from their evening with dad until 830pm or so. If there ever was a lazy night, this was it. I drifted in and out of sleep at least three different times. Come 9pm I tuned into the Science Channel and watched Through the Worm Hole & Wonders of the Solar System. This was the time travel episode. Cool stuff!
I stayed up after Mindy headed to bed but once again quickly drifted off to sleep. I woke and joined her before 11pm.
