Comp Day @ New Albany Golf Links
Woke at 8am – not feeling that great – tired
Exercise, lounge, coffee
Mindy up at 9am. She & the kids were planning to meet her friend Teri and kids at the fair at 10am. They left the house around 930am.
I left for a run just ahead of 10am. Back by 1035am.
Wrote in blog until 1110am. Headed for shower
Made a sandwich then left the house for New Albany Golf Links at 1130am – drive BM’er
First to arrive. Practice putting/chipping. Not feeling too well – slight headache. End up taking two old Advil I had in my golf bag. That seemed to do the trick. Meet Jay, Tom’s future brother-in-law – Tom not yet there
Tom arrives last but still with 15 minutes to spare.
They added me, but I had to pay the normal green fee with cart - $39.
Started solid – tough course – driving just OK, approach shots OK, putting good, made several costly mistakes, however, on a very unforgiving course.
We finished just after 430pm. I was home shortly after 5pm. Mindy already home from the fair, but I expected that. In fact, the kids were already gone to dinner with their dad.
Mindy and I planned a trip to Barley’s. Mindy took a shower beforehand. I freshened up a little.
Arrived at Barley’s around 630pm. Janet is bartending. Mgr Dan fetches a copy of their new menu for us to peruse. Goes live Monday, August 9th.
I ordered their Reuben. As expected, it was delicious. I drank two IPA’s - Mindy two Russian’s.
While talking with folks along the bar, the year and high school I graduated from came up. Soon, I had a guy standing behind me asking if I knew some of his family members who graduated from West too. The name wasn’t familiar but his face was. He graduated from Central in ‘79. But even more familiar was the young woman sitting with him a few barstools down. It was Cindy Starr.
We were neighbors on Brinker when I was married to Kelly. Her son David and Courtney attended school together. She walked down to say hello. We chatted briefly. When I asked about hubby Don, things got a little awkward. She explained that they were divorcing. I introduced her to Mindy. Cindy shared that her son David and Don are business partners. I asked that she say hello to Don for me.
Mindy picked up the check. We left for home around 730pm. I drove.
Back at home, we took Frankie out back. Once gain she failed to deliver the goods. Not sure what’s up with her. The kids arrived home around 8pm. Mindy walked down to chat with Chrissy. Took Frankie with her. I did some reading then fell asleep in the familyroom around 9pm.
