Lindsey, Lawn & Steak

I woke early for a Sunday, slightly ahead of 7am. Without exercise on the agenda I went straight to the PC's after starting a pot of coffee. Work was in fairly good shape so I spent the majority of my pre-run time tending to personal computing concerns. It was again quite nice, sunny and in the low 60's. After a brief stretch, I headed off on my Sunday run. It was around 815am. For the first time in a while, I ran four miles on a Sunday. Not sure why, just because. Mindy was up earlier than I expected, and shortly after my return from a run. We had relatively little planned for our day aside from a cookout with the neighbors later in the afternoon. But then again, because I was on-call, I my agenda was full enough. At my prompting, Mindy made maple bacon and scrambled eggs for the first time in a long, long while. It was nice to have a filling breakfast under my belt. During clean-up Lindsey called apparently in the middle of a fight/argument with her mother. Finding it almost amusing the way those two go at it like teenagers, I decided to be to the point and perhaps even a bit blunt. As much as I may disagree with ex-Kelly's antics, I explained that it is her mother's house and that she needs to be grateful for the roof over her head. The argument was over the boys well being if/when Kelly boots Lindsey out. According to Lindsey, Kelly was trying to frame a scenario where Mindy was planning something covert after Lindsey shared that Mindy and I are the only people she can really talk to. Here's the thing, Kelly, and everyone else really ,walks on egg shells around Lindsey never being upfront with their accusations. I find it ridiculous. And since they were involving me I decided it time to share the facts/rumors with Lindsey so she can at least be aware of the perception others have of her antics. The others often tell the tale but often request we not share it with Lindsey. Why? I am not sure. Lindsey was extremely put out by the accusations. One, she's addicted to Percocet; two, she's stealing from her mother to feed her habit; thirdly, selling/trading her food stamps for drugs. She emphatically denied it all. I quickly shared that it may or may not be true but thought she should be aware of what people believe and think. She actually had good rationale for some of the drug related accusations, but the missing money from her mom's purse seemed difficult to deny. I mean Lindsey's the only other person in the home. But Lindsey's point was that she simply lost it. Mindy's only input was that we believed Lindsey in the past only to learn she was indeed involved with prescription drugs, and essentially lying to us. And the one trait that most addicts share is denial, even when there excuses sound preposterous to everyone else. After helping clean-up the kitchen I decided to get busy on the lawn. While I started on the lawn, Mindy headed out, but I can't recall to where. It was quite warm doing the lawn chores. While whacking around the flower beds my trimmer line nicked one of my uplighting florescent spots causing it to explode on impact. I continued the trimming deciding to deal with the busted light later. I whacked, edged, mowed, and blowed, finishing up around 1pm or so. After cooling off but before a shower, I got involved in yet another work related matter that took an hour or so to resolve. After taking a shower I headed off to Sam's Club to pick-up some steaks and possibly dessert. I remember thinking how warm a drive it was. I picked up 4 extra-thick ribeye steaks at Sam's along with a delicious chocolate fudge cheesecake. While there, I renewed our annual membership too. That was an additional $35. I was back at home around 2pm. I settled down in front of the TV to watch some of the Red's game. The kids got home from a weekend with their daddy a short while later. Kenny fired up their new bounce house out back. That was a big draw for the kids. We must've headed down around 4pm. I didn't plan to drink any beer. Instead, I was stuck with thirst quenching ice water. Kenny started grillin' steak not long after we arrived. Along with the steaks, he grilled boneless chicken breast and hot dogs. There were about 7 or 8 kids to feed, too. The steaks turned out real nice. Mine might've been cooked a tad too long but it was still pink inside. I certainly didn't complain. Mindy made potato salad, and Chrissy warmed some leftover cheesy potatoes that she brought home from their overnight party at Mike & Julie's. They were extra good. After dinner, Mindy & I did the dishes. Mindy served up dessert soon after. The fudge cheesecake was heavenly. We sat out on the back deck while all the kids played in the yard. I eventually joined the kids for some ball tag but purposefully refrained from running around like a mad man. I stopped after 20 minutes or so. We gathered up our stuff and our children shortly after 830pm and headed home. The kids needed showers and I needed to prepare for the work week ahead. I think we were in bed by 10pm.
