Everything is Rooted in Greek
I was the “old” me this morning, or pretty close to it … I popped out of bed at 5:30am this morning after a fulfilling night’s sleep. It was comforting to sleep on my bed as it was originally intended instead of the mattresses directly on the floor.
So, I’m on my way to work after going through my routine! The sunrise is take- your-breath-away beautiful. Again, I am reminded that I should’ve brought my camera to capture this moment. I arrived at work at 7:50am and head directly to my office. Why wouldn’t I? Work hard I did, of course! But come 12:15pm I took to the gym for my daily run. The temperature was in the low 50's and the sky reasonably clear - more or less a continuation of the January weather we had. My run went well. And to help it along, I enjoyed the sounds of classical music while I ran. When I finished I skipped the weights again today as my shoulders and back (more like my shoulder blades) were still aching. I didn't take an anti-inflammatory like I should've this morning. I promised myself I'd take one when I got home though.
Immediately following my run I drove over to Tuttle Mall to JC Penney planning to buy the black and taupe comforter set that I had see n the day prior. After surfing countless webpages and shopping a handful of stores, this I was certain was the bet buy for me at this time. I liked the design and colors, and loved the price! It didn't take long, but before I pulled the trigger I took one more trip through Macy's to see if they had anything that caught my fancy moreover. They didn't, so I returned to JC Penney and made the purchase. I was only gone form the office for 45 minutes. Back at work I ate my lunch while I whizzed through several afternoon duties. It wasn't long before 5:00pm rolled around and I was headed for home. This was a Wednesday, a Mindy Wednesday. She left me a VM indicating that she'd be over sometime around 6:00pm. I arrived home around 5:40pm after a quick stop at Lowe's looking at new blinds to complement my new bedding. Once home I immediately took to laundering my new comforter set, not wanting to sleep on crisp, crunchy, unwashed bedding. I did all the sheets, shams, and pillow cases first. Just about the time I finished getting that load in, Mindy arrived. Scared me too! She came in through the garage and because the washer was running I didn't hear the door go up. Suddenly the door opened with a body within inches of mine - WHOA!
After a hug and kiss greeting, I take to walking Ykraps. Upon my return I found Mindy outside trying to locate us. She, as it turned out, went the opposite way that we did. Once back inside I went about making tomorrow's coffee and washing my dinner dishes. At the same time, I threw the new sheets in the dryer and stuffed the comforter into the washer, and I mean STUFFED! Because it's new it's extra fluffy. Fro past experience I know how a king size comforter takes my washer to its limit. I close the lid as it fills to wash and return to washing a few dishes. For some reason I went back to the laundry room to do something - now I can't recall. But when I opened the door I immediately knew that something was amiss! I could smell a burning rubbery kinda smell. Then, I noticed smoke bellowing form my washer. I raised the lid to discover that the washer had seized up apparently due to being over stuffed with the new comforter. Now I was a little pissed! My first inclination was that I allowed a$69 comforter to wreck my washer and that I'd likely need to buy a new one for $500. Shit! Double shit! With Mindy present I knew I had to keep my cool. Plus I had a washer - seemingly broken, filled with water and my new comforter. What should I do? I removed the water logged comforter and as I did water poured allover the laundry room floor. My worry tuned exclusively to the washer. I worried whether or not it was shot or if it was simply over stuffed and had over heated the motor. I tried reloading the comforter moving it to the spin cycle at least hoping to remove all the loose water. But when I did, the same thing happened again - plus some loud ass noises! Plan B.
Plan B involved throwing the water logged comforter into laundry basket and then moving it quickly out onto the deck where the water could drain somewhat freely with no worry of damage to my home. It worked splendidly! After mopping up the loose water about my floors I decided to run the washer empty to see if and how it would perform. It ran - a little noisier than normal - but still it ran a complete cycle. After all that action I recognized that I needed a diversion, and since Mindy was expressively hungry we opted to head up to the Greek Cuisina for some dinner. Good call, Princess! We were there in short order. Along the way we listened to Andrea Bocelli. Very good! This is a nicer Greek restaurant, but still, in lieu of ordering one of their delectable entrees we ordered gyros. They were double yummy!
After a filling dinner we headed back to my place where we took to my bedroom to relax for an hour or so. We tuned the television to American Idol. Mindy turned me on to the qualifying rounds a couple of weeks ago. It was as funny as reported. Lots of weirdo's who really believe they can sing. Come to think of it, they can indeed sing, but it's simply a measure of how well! We watched that for a full hour. BTW: I think this is the first time we have ever laid in bed and watched television together. Mindy had to split sometime around 9:30pm. When she left I took to reading and guitar. Before falling asleep I gave her a quick call to tell her that I loved her, then I went to sleep.
