Doe-Ray-Me
The benefits of a long, fulfilling night’s sleep are many. But none are more pleasurable than the feeling of waking early feeling rested and full of energy. Thursday began in such a manner, and I attribute that to being asleep before 10:30pm.
I rose a couple minutes early today, around 5:28am. That’s when my routine kicked in. And everything went like clockwork until somewhere around 7:15am when my doorbell rang. It was my dad stopping by for one of his early morning visits. Funny thing is, I had told Mindy just the evening prior that I half expected a visit that morning or tomorrow, which, of course, was now. That isn’t the first time such thoughts have manifested themselves.
I was happy he stopped by too because we needed to nail down plans for airport transportation and caring for Ykraps in my pending absence. As it turns out, his travel plans overlap my own meaning that I’ll need to make other arrangements for airport pick-up and for Ykraps Monday and Tuesday. My immediate thoughts turned to Ashley.
We visited for almost an hour. Come to think of it, I should’ve taken his picture for my blog, but didn’t think about at the time. I don’t have too many pics of him on their, at least not since the end of summer.
After he left I finished prepping for departure, including grabbing the broken Azul spot light. On my way to the office I would make a quick detour into Home Depot. The morning drive was gorgeous. The sun shone brightly, but the temperature was deceptively low. It was only like 16 degrees. It took no longer than 5 minutes to exchange the spot light – no hassle! I was at work shortly thereafter.
Work was busy and much the same as the prior three days. We were still contending with that same overseas issue, too. The morning zipped by and before I knew it, it was time for a run.
Today would be the first run of my chase to year ten. How cool is that?
I tuned into 87.9 FM for my listening pleasure along the way. It was only 27 degrees when I headed out. My winter layers proved a little warm on the return with a light breeze at my back and the bright sunshine warming my shoulders. The afternoon was moderately busy, and it included a couple of formal meetings, which are time eaters and make time fly by. That's right! Before i knew it, it was time to go home. I left for home around 5:10pm. Tonight was guitar lesso nnight so I had to move swiftly if I were to be where I wanted to be with shores and such. Josh arrived promptly at 6:00pm. Truth be told, I was not in the best frame of mind for a guitar lesson. I guess I was still feeling like I was in a hurried work mode. I play and absorb much better when I am relaxed. Then again, who doesn't? After some brief chit-chat we got down to business. We picked up right where we left off the last time. We spent the majority of our time on music theory, drafting and reasoning through major and minor scales.
My take is that music theory, while interesting and ultimately necessary, remains far removed from the raw talent it takes to play well. To close we wrote some scales for me to practice over the next couple of weeks.
After Josh departed I began doing some "weekend" chores in hopes of removing a great deal of the hustle and bustle out of my weekend. I completed some laundry, vacuuming, and general tidying of the home. While observing my new color scheme in my backyard landscape I noticed that the newly replaced azul (blue) spot light was out. What the hell? I threw on some shoes and took to the yard ot see what the devil was the matter. I assumed this one. like the other, had gone bad already after an hour of service. To my dissmay, the lens was busted and of course the light fried. A complete mystery! Did someone stumble through my backyard and break the spot light, or did it blow-up and break on its own? Who knows. I wasn't to pleased. One thing's for sure, it doesn't seem that I was meant to have these azul spots. I bothered me. I mean, crap, that's two blue spots not working in the same fixture over two days. Hello! I removed the carnage and repackaged it in case I muster the nerve to take it back again tomorrow.
Back inside I spent some time blogging then nestled into bed by 9:30pm along with my book. I read until I dozed. I got up turned off the light and went to sleep!
