Sleep My Precious, Sleep...
You’ve got to be kidding me? Even after 8.25 hrs sleep I still felt like I needed another full night’s sleep. I didn’t feel ill, just real tired. This happens about once or twice per year. I get a case of the creepy sleepies.
Despite the day’s sleepy start, the sky was once again unbelievably clear and the temperature near 50 degrees at 530am in the morning. Couldn’t really ask for a nicer morning. I battled through the fuzzy head and knocked out my sit-ups and push-ups in a matter of minutes. Before I knew it, Ykraps and I were out the door under the cover of a star filled sky for our morning prowl. Sometimes a cup of coffee will snap me right out of the creepy sleepies, unfortunately that didn’t work this morning.
Despite my tired eyes, I moved through the rest of my morning routine with relative ease. I was still several minutes ahead of schedule. I sat down at my computer with breakfast (eggs & fruit) in tow at 630am. I was able to read all about the Vikings Sunday afternoon victory over the hapless Lions as well as other current events. I even had time to catch up on the Daily OM! At 655am I headed upstairs to ready myself for work. I was ready and back down stairs by 720am. That left me ten-plus minutes of leisure time, so I took a few sunrise pics and played a few licks on my guitar. I was out the door at 735am, still sleepy!
Lucky for me, work wasn’t too busy. I just didn’t have the necessary energy to run at full speed. Speaking of run, come 1215pm I headed down to the gym for my afternoon run. Often a good run is just what I need to snap out of this funk. And as you might expect, my run began clumsily, but once I was out about a mile the endorphins kicked in and I was feeling fine. Having been around the block so many times before, though, I knew that the euphoria brought about by a run isn’t long lasting. And just as I expected, I slipped back into the tired funk about a half an hour after my run was complete. I resigned myself to battling through it for the rest of the afternoon and promised myself that I would try to get to bed early later that night. The afternoon was busy but certainly not ridiculous. I left the office about ten minutes early because I wanted to stop and pick a present up for Mindy. She is selling her home and isn’t having so much luck. She mentioned that she needed a St Joseph’s statue to bury in her yard. Superstition says that if you bury him upside down in your yard and say the proper prayer, your house will sell quickly. Sadly, they sell these statue kits in almost any religious gifts store. I found one on the internet directly across the street from Barleys.- go figure! J
I got home from work and my little shopping diversion right at 530pm. By the time I had walked Ykraps, washed my lunch dishes, and prepped tomorrow’s coffee, Mindy was on her way over. I was still more than overcome with sleepiness. Mindy arrived around 550pm. We quickly planned our dinner of leftover lasagna and salad. Mindy made a fresh salad while I tried to sneak in a quick nap. It didn’t work, but I did relax a little. Mindy could only hang out until 8pm. She had to be home for her children. I spent the rest of the evening updating my blog from Friday and Saturday and uploading the associated pictures. I was in bed once again earlier than normal (930pm) with hopes of shaking this sleepy funk!
