Uh-Oh!
As is usually the case, after a day of skiing, I slept great. I was up shortly before 8am and quickly downstairs. Mindy didn't budge. It was cold - only 20 degrees with light snow flurries. I started some coffee then played on the internet. I had desire to check sports and read about the Buckeye's loss. I simply chose to avoid it. Instead, I spent most of my PC cycles working on my delinquent blog. Enjoyed coffee until 915am or so when I decided it was time to head out for a run. Mindy was still asleep when I headed out.
Ran the usual Sunday trail of three miles. And while it was cold, I was dressed appropriately thus comfortable for the for the duration. Mindy was up shortly after my return. We didn't begin our day with any concrete plans but thought we might head out Xmas shopping. Before deciding once and for all, I tossed skiing in as an option but Mindy quickly excused it, citing a greater need to get Xmas shopping done. I knew she was right, but hey, it didn't hurt to ask.
Over the next 90 minutes we both got showers and readied for an afternoon of Xmas shopping. We had planned stops at Dick's and Target, and possibly a couple other quick stops. We left the house near noon. Our first stop was Dick's where we shopped for both kids. While there, I found a new black ski shell from Columbia that fit really nice. I tried on the Northface model, too but like most of their stuff, too tight under the arms for my build. When I caught up with Mindy, she offered to buy it for me for Xmas. She had a handful of Dick's coupons, a couple worth 20% off one item. Good thing, the jacket she was buying for Bella was $90, which I felt was way too much given that she'll only be able to war it one season most likely.
Spent about 30 minutes in Dick's. From there we headed across the street to Target. We talked about stopping in Bath & Body but agreed to make that stop afterwards. It's almost next door. Spent a solid 90 minutes in Target shopping mostly for grandkids. Of course by the time it was over, there were a few things in the cart for all of us. That's just how Target is. We split the cart in part to take advantage of two decent coupons. I agreed to take the haul to the Pilot while Mindy ran in Bath & Body for candles. I was already exhausted from shopping. More than once I'd told Mindy that I simply wasn't feelin' it. Part of that, I'm sure, was the fact that I hadn't yet eaten. I suggested we get food. Earlier, we talked about getting Chinese takeout from the Dragon Palace for dinner. However, after a couple minutes, we agreed to go there for a late lunch instead. Figured to eat there, too.
Arrived at Dragon Palace near 230-245pm. At the time, we were their only patrons. Not that uncommon. Don't know that there have ever been more than three tables with customers while we've been there. Not to worry, It's our little secret place. We love their food more so than just about any other Chinese and that includes the pricey Molly Woo's. Because we were their only customer's, we got prompt service. But truly, they're always fast and attentive. We both ordered only water to drink. For entrees, we each ordered a large bowl of won-ton, which for my money is the best in town, egg rolls, and fried rice. The real difference in our orders was Mindy ordered chicken, and I ordered beef.
The soup was delicious. I was spittin' snow all afternoon but no additional accumulation. However, just to our east and south, they were getting pounded. In fact, all the Mid-Atlantic east coast NFL games were under siege by a cool winter storm. Word had it that there was 5" of fresh snow on the Eagles field. The same apparently held true for the Viking game, which was in Baltimore. Love watchin' football games played in the snow. Lunch was fabulous. Per the usual, we were in and out of there in less than 30-40 minutes. We headed for home. Guessing it was near 330pm when we got home. Most Jimaken weekends, we'd get the kids back around 3pm. However, Jimaken agreed to take Jacob for basketball photos at 345pm. He brought them home after pictures. By then it was closer to 430pm.
While casually catching the end of the Bengals game (not in snow), I caught the Vikings score. Over the last 125 seconds of the game, the teams combined to score 35 points, and the lead changed hands four times, I think. At first I thought it was a mistake, but later highlights confirmed what I read in the crawler. The Viking's lost with 4 seconds remaining. Petterson got hurt, too. Uh-oh! Actually, though, I was hoping they'd lose to further solidify a coaching change and a top 5 draft pick in '14. The same scenario played out in a couple other NFL stadiums rocked by snow storms too. New England beat the Browns after scoring two last minute touchdowns. Also, the Eagles beat Detroit in a snow filled score fest.
I took a long nap later afternoon. Felt terrific. Once home, Bella soon headed down to play with Makayla. Around 530pm, Mindy walked down to give Chrissy the card and present we had for her. Sunday was her 35th birthday. Happy Birthday, Chrissy! I opted to stay at home. By the time Mindy was back, I was a little hungry again. By then it was after 6pm. I warmed what was left of my fried rice. Yum!
Like most Sunday's, I wasn't planning to drink, but last minute decided to pour a St Nick's, but just the one. I finished that around 8pm and then did a little reading from my Kindle. Mindy and I headed to bed around 915pm. I felt incredibly sleepy and that was after an hour long nap earlier in the afternoon. I must've needed the rest.
