No Dental Relief

I slept in until 550am. I had a dental appointment at 910am so I wanted to run ahead of seeing Bella onto the school bus. To that end, I completed Tuesday calisthenics by 6am and headed to my desk with coffee a few minutes later. After 15 minutes of fun, I headed upstairs with Mindy’s coffee. Said she slept good once she fell asleep, but getting to sleep was still a problem. Hmmm?

I checked on Jacob since I didn’t hear him stirring. Said he was sick. I made Mindy aware then headed back downstairs. It wasn’t that unexpected. He complained of having a sore throat on Sunday and again on Monday. He’s been sick a lot lately. Probably needs to dress a bit warmer.

Downstairs, I played around until 60pm when I broke away for meditation and a stretch. And by the time I was dressed and on my way out the door for a run it was 650am. The school bus was at the corner picking up Jacob’s peers as I ran passed. It was comparatively warm, about 40 degrees and clear – a lovely morning, really. I ran the full 4.1 miles well. Was back at home just as Mindy was walking out to leave. She wiped the sweat and slobber from my face before giving me a hug and kiss.

Bella was already up and busy in the kitchen. She was proud to share that she’d already fed the pug and added her eggs that Mindy prepared. Mine were waiting in the microwave. While I ate, she headed upstairs to finish her ready. The next 20 minutes flew by. We, the pug included, headed out the door at 755am. Forgot to discuss Wednesday’s late start with Chrissy. Crap! The bus arrived shortly after 8am. The pug and I headed across the street for our walk immediately after.

I topped off my coffee then spent another 5 minutes or so online before heading upstairs for a shower. I wanted to leave the house no later than 850am. Then, after my dental appointment I planned on working at a customer site across town. I wasn’t sure what time I’d be there, however, since I was scheduled for my 6 month cleaning but also planned to have Dr March dig further into my daily toothache issues again. In fact, I planned to ask him to start replacing fillings.

Was ready to go with plenty of time to spare. As such, I took my time packing my lunch and gear. Headed out the door near 850am. Fast, easy drive out Trabue, up Riverside and across Lane to Tremont, then north to Fishinger. Pulled in the lot at 904am. Perfect! Inside, Heather took me right back. Before my cleaning she asked how my teeth were feeling. After a brief pause, I shared that the discomfort continues. Despite three visits since my last cleaning, she was unaware of my issues prior to my sharing. She poked around a little herself during the cleaning looking for anything obvious. She also shared that I was due for bite wing X-rays but I declined for having so many others taken over the past few months. She understood and didn’t push it any further.

After my cleaning Dr March came in for the routine exam. Once again I shared my ongoing discomfort. He shared that he got the results from Jennifer’s office. He poked and prodded and tested my bite looking for any sign of root problems and decay. Said there is neither but still guesses it’s my left canine given its sensitivity. When I asked about replacing fillings he was reluctant. Suggested instead that I go back to Jennifer or perhaps even another Endo. Actually that kind of pissed me off. Said my pain was indicative of nerve issues, not decay. I left with clean teeth but still no solution to my ongoing toothaches.

I headed north on Tremont to Kenny to Henderson. Briefly toyed with a stop at Aspen Ski & Board but decided not. I wanted to get to the office. I hopped on 315 N to 270E around to Morse Rd and the Easton area. Arrived at the office at just about 1045am. It was a lovely spring like morning – sunny and seasonably warm – about 55 degrees.

Decided to work from the campus building where our 1pm meeting is held. As such, I had to work from a make-shift cubicle. A couple years ago that would’ve bothered me so much that it would’ve rendered me unproductive. Anymore, I am fairly used to it, and once I’m pounding away and in a groove, I hardly notice.

It was 1pm and time for our meeting in the blink of any eye. The meeting went about 50 minutes. Good discussion. After the meeting, I debated heading over to the other building or possibly even heading home to finish my day. But in the end I opted to stay put. It didn’t make a lot of sense to change venues and have to get set-up again. I finished my day there, leaving for home near 455pm, which was after our weekly team call that didn’t begin until 430pm.

By the time I was safely merged onto 270 for home it was 510pm. I called Mindy, who was home but soon preparing to take Bella to gymnastics. Said we were having leftovers for dinner and that unless I had a problem with it, she was going to the Flower Factory after dropping Bella and would almost certainly stay out long enough that she would simply return to get her before coming home again. No problem.
She reminded me that Jacob would be home but likely in bed – still sick.

I arrived home at 540pm, but Mindy and Bella were still there. I guess with 270 construction now completed we no longer need to leave at 530pm. I was home for less than 5 minutes before they departed.
Decided to nuke a couple of my TG sauerkraut balls. I also sliced up some Johnsonville summer sausage. Yum! Spent most of the evening on the computer messing with photos and doing some online shopping.
Didn’t hear a peep from Jacob. Went up and asked if he needed anything. He was in bed reading.
He didn’t need or want anything.

Mindy got home with Bella around 745pm. Mindy quickly made herself a bowl of cereal – Frosted Flakes. Bella made a plate of nachos covered in cheese. Did a little reading from my Kindle in the living room. Mindy and I decided to go to bed early. Mindy’s still struggling to fall asleep at night and then finds herself tired the next day. She told Bella that she needed to be in bed by 930pm.
