Subzero, Subnetting & CBC
Up before 530am, I felt really good and ready to get after another day of training. Before any of that, however, I still needed to exercise, meditate, stretch and run. It was very cold, only 8 degrees, and there was a breeze blowing too, so with windchill it was well below zero. I wouldn't have to deal with that for another hour or so.
Enjoyed coffee and internet until 610am when I walked away to deliver Mindy's coffee. Back downstairs, I meditated and stretched. Was ready for a run by 631am. It was cold alright, but I was dressed for it. I wore a winter wicking compression shirt and then an additional, but thin, 1/4-zip wicking pullover and my light jacket. That proved warm enough. I could feel my body heat kick in somewhere between 1/4 - 1/2 mile. Holding to my plan, I ran just three miles.
Back at home by 7am, Mindy wasn't even downstairs after her shower yet. Odd! Didn't have any additional snow to contend with, so I immediately sought out the pug for our walk. She wasn't too excited about the cold, but then again, neither was I. Running in it is fine, but standing still is something altogether different. Brrrr!
Back at the house near 715am, I headed up for a shower while Mindy worked on my eggs. Said goodbye before heading up. I was back downstairs to enjoy my eggs before 735am. Headed out to start the Accord at 740am. Let it run for almost 10 minutes before heading off to class, which was the same time Bella walked down to the bus stop. Chrissy was already out waiting with Makayla. I beeped as I passed.
Traffic wasn't an issue. Arrived at class by 815am. Got started on an IP subnetting exercise that the instructor left out for us to work on. Class lecture started promptly at 830am. All morning long I battled a case of the sleepies. I was also battling a toothache. As time goes on, it's becoming more and more apparent that the culprit is the left canine, though the pain radiates across all its immediate neighbors.
Class was intense. The Advil I took calmed the toothache. The sleepies eventually abated too thanks in no small part to me taking a 10 minute power nap in the lobby at lunch. Did me a world of good. Woke feeling refreshed. Made it through the rest of class without any issues. We got out on time - 430pm.
The planned called for Mindy and I to do date night, and she wanted to visit CBC. I arrived home just ahead of 5pm. Jimaken showed to get the kids a few minutes later. Earlier, Mindy mentioned that Jacob was being defiant about wearing long pants and areal winter jacket despite the brutal winter chill. And given that’s he’s been ill more than once recently, I agreed with her, that we need to insist he start wearing long pants and a real jacket. Mindy prompted Jimaken’ for help or support in enforcing said policy. I was a little surprised then with his reply, which if I understood correctly, was something like “I don’t have anything to do with that”. OK … dad! I didn’t say anything, choosing instead to discuss privately with Mindy after they were gone.
Once they were gone, we freshened up for an evening at CBC. Just before we walked out of the house, I asked Mindy if I heard Jimaken correctly. Oh yeah! He wants no part in disciplining the kids. Well that’s a problem! However, with or without his support, Jacob will do was we see fit. Frankly, I wouldn’t even have asked for his support. Don’t need it. That said, one would think he would support her.
Arrived at CBC near 545pm.Fairly decent happy hour crowd. We took two stools near the door at the corner. Kate & Vince were both working the bar. I ordered two Bodhi’s assuming Mindy would want one too. Enjoyed risotto balls for the first time in a while. This time they came with an unusual spin – small chunks of turnip and carrots added. Apparent the risotto was a side on the dinner special this week and contained both by default. Couldn’t really taste the chunks but it did alter the texture. Not my fave.
Eventually ordered a Bye Bye Miss American Pie pizza while Mindy went with salmon. I ordered a 2nd Bodhi, too. Introduced ourselves to the couple sitting next to us, Ian and ?????. She is a 1st grade teacher, just like Mindy. Ian is a financial planner and also a runner. They live in Circleville and love CBC and apparently his parents do too. Ian and I talked running for a while.
We didn’t order any take-out for Jacob. He didn’t ask. We left for home around 730pm. I didn’t want to be out late, class is kicking my butt! I wanted to get a really good night of sleep. We beat the kids home by several minutes. Jacob expressed disappointment when he arrived home to no take-out. Mindy planned on taking a sanity day on Thursday, so she spent the next hour working on sub plans from her laptop. I played on my own PC until 9pm but then slipped off to bed.
