Ron Burgundy
I was up a few minutes after 530am and could smell the coffee brewing in the kitchen. Smelt terrific! I completed sit-ups then curls then spent a solid 20 minutes online while also enjoying coffee. Between 6-630am I did meditation and a stretch.
It was yet another steamy run with the temperature in the low 70s and the humidity near 90%. Storms were forecasted for the area, but if the past few days were any indicator, most would miss us. For whatever the reason, they seem to be either north or south of I-70. Just to our south they have been getting plenty of storm activity.
I ran the full 4.1 miles successfully. Back at the house I prepped my breakfast and packed a lunch, though I didn’t need a whole lot. I still had most of Tuesday’s lunch in the fridge at work. I walked Eiknarf ahead of my shower. We purposefully left the babygate downstairs. She’s been much better about roaming in the night. We may not have to use it anymore except for rare occasions when we want to keep her out of a room.
Mindy was taking her mom to a doctor’s appointment and my dad was coming by to keep an eye on the kids. Gloria was downstairs in the kitchen when I returned from my shower. I was genuinely surprised, thinking all along that Mindy was going to pick her up. A few minutes after they walked out the door my dad showed up. Said he caught them just as they were pulling away. That was right at 8am.
Before I left for work, Dad and I hung out for a while chatting about this and that. I joked that he may not have to do a whole lot since the kids have been sleeping increasingly late since our return from vacation.
I left for work around 820am. It was a pleasant and sunny drive into the office. I spent most of the morning working on yet another report, though this one quarterly in nature. I don’t believe I bothered taking a formal lunch break, choosing instead to eat from my desk.
I finished the report and updated the PowerPoint before the end of the work day. It felt good to get another big to-do off my plate but the celebration would have to be short lived. I needed to get cracking on two more significant reports on Friday, both of which are new to me, so there’s a certain amount of stress in the unknown.
Talked with Mindy on my drive home. Turns out, she was home o spell my dad by 1030am after her mom’s doctor’s appointment. Apparently her mom wasn’t interested in doing lunch. The kids were still sleeping when she returned home. Said she spent more time working in the basement before heading to her friend Tara’s house hoping to go boating. Storms apparently threatened the area west of CMH putting the kaboshes on any boating/water skiing. They only visited at the house.
Can’t recall what we had for dinner, the result of writing this entry 6 days in arrears. I watered the flowers front and back during the evening hours, once again having to wash away clusters of goose crap from the front lawn and walk. I hate those damn geese!
I spent an hour or so reading and enjoying ice water from the family room. Mindy and the kids insisted we watch a movie. We opted for Anchor Man. We were all a little surprised at the level of adult-only humor. Bella lost interest or was embarrassed. Not sure which. At any rate, she headed up to her room. Jacob seemed to enjoy the sophomoric Will Farrell humor. I fell asleep with 10 minutes or so remaining in the movie, but like many night’s past, struggled to fall soundly asleep once in bed.
