Guatemalan spun Mexican

It was Tuesday. I was up at 5:20am after a fairly decent night’s sleep. I started my exercise routine as soon as I got downstairs. Like most days, I checked the weather and read a few headlines, including checking the MNF final score between sit-ups and push-ups. Ykraps and I headed out for our walk at 540am. It was cool, but not too bad - about 43 degrees. Back at home I poured some coffee and then spent another 15-20 minutes on the PC. After delivering Mindy’s coffee I moved on to meditation and stretching. I did both well. I was ready and left for my run at 6:35am. I wore my thickest wicking shirt and a pullover fleece. A mile or so into the run I knew I’d over dressed. I was really warm. I unzipped the fleece as low as it would go, but honestly that helped very little. I ran the full four miles. By the time I made my way home I was soaked in sweat. I quickly got out of my wet uppers. Mindy had fried eggs ready and with a side of leftover ham. Both hit the spot. Mindy left for school and I headed off to the shower. The kids and I headed out to the bus stop at 7:57am and they were picked up a couple minutes later. I did some quick tidy work in the kitchen then headed off to the office. Work was busy. I hardly came up for air, at least in the morning. At lunch time I drove to Lowe’s in Mill Run. My goal was to buy a sample, a 1’X1’ square of 1” ceramic tile I had my eye on to use for our kitchen backsplash. I figured if it didn’t match, or if Mindy didn’t like it, I could always return it. I was in and out of there pretty quickly. I was back at the office by 2pm. The afternoon flew by, due in part to my involvement in a couple heated issues. I had a couple email exchanges with brother Glenn, too, regarding impromptu holiday travel to Portland- just exchanging ideas. I talked with Mindy late afternoon before heading home. She asked about dinner. I suggested tacos, but she said we didn’t have any seasoning. She suggested that we go out to dinner and also stop to get Jacob new shoes. That didn’t sound appealing to me. I left the office some time just after 530pm. It was warmer than I expected – somewhere in the 50s. No sooner had I walked in the door when Mindy asked if I wanted the good or bad news first. Oh dear! Why do you do this to me? Bad! The bad news was that she wasn’t making dinner and was taking Jacob to get shoes. Not so bad. The good news? She had already walked Ykraps. As it turned out, Mindy was amenable to me staying home while she and the kids went for dinner and shoes. Having alone time, I planned to finish nailing up the trim and carpet tack strips, basically finishing off the wall project. I managed through all the final detail quite easily. I was quite pleased with the finished product. I even ran the vacuum clearing any remaining remnants of my recent project work. I was getting hungry as 8pm neared. I was hopeful that Mindy would bring me home some food. My wish was granted. They went to La Famosa – the Guatemalan restaurant she’s been talking about a lot lately. She brought home enchiladas and chips & salsa. The food was good. I commented how Mexican-like it seemed. That’s when Mindy set me straight. It WAS Mexican food. They serve Guatemalan, Mexican, and Caribbean fare. Go figure. Oh yeah, Mindy shared that Bella ordered a cheeeburger. Too funny! After woofing down an enchilada and some chips, I changed into my pj’s then we watched The Planets, a program on the Science Channel chronicling the Voyager missions. Very cool stuff. Do try to catch it.
