Ginormous Driver
After waking, I spent the usual amount of time exercising, walking Ykraps, playing, meditating, stretching and running. Unlike the week before, it was considerably cooler. The temperature was only in the low 60s. It felt quite nice. And judging by the forecast, it would be even cooler on Tuesday & Wednesday.
There was little to separate my run from most others, but it still went well. I took my time preparing to leave for work after being on-call all weekend long. I took my golf clubs and drove the Trooper. If my work day would permit, I wanted to hit the range at lunch. I was anxious to hit some balls with my new driver.
Turns out, the morning went surprisingly well. I was able to leave at 12:30pm. Before the driving range, I stopped at Galaxy Golf to pick-up some tees. I was almost out. On to Ables golf center. I paid $9 for an X-large bucket of balls and headed to the grass tees. It was fairly crowded, almost too much so. But thankfully, three or four patrons were just finishing up as I walked up freeing up plenty of room for me. I hit four or five with my sand wedge before pulling out the big gun.
I hit my driver really well. It was very easy to hit. I purposefully wasn’t making a full back swing and only following through at 2/3s speed. Making solid contact was my objective. Each swing produced a slight draw – very nice! Right away, I could see that Bob Imber’s tip to buy longer golf tees was an accurate one. Crap, I just bought regular 2-1/4” tees earlier. I found a long one at the range and used it for much of time with great results. Note to self. My new driver’s club face is ginormous.
I hit the entire bucket working with all of my clubs. I mishit relatively few. I was pleased. I spent about ten minutes on the putting green trying out my new Odyssey putter. I felt good with it too. Back to work.
There was an obvious cool down in the air. The remainder of my work day went along smoothly. I headed for home around 5:30pm. Mindy and the kids were playing kick ball in the yard when I arrived home. I took full advantage and went straight for a nap after walking Ykraps. For whatever the reason, I was real tired.
Into the early evening I worked on my weekend blog probably writing for a good 2 hours. We talked in the living room before heading off to bed.
