Spreading Com-Til
I had to check the time carefully. We lost power briefly on Sunday afternoon, which required a reset of all the house clocks. Prior to that, our bedroom clock had been running 109 minutes fast on purpose. I reset it exactly 2 hours fast in my haste. When I cracked and eye early Monday morning I had to try and process the difference. Satisfied, I allowed myself to return to sleep until the clock read 7:30am. I actually woke at 7:29am.
I was tired and really could’ve used another hour or so of deep sleep, but work beckoned. I got moving with my routine. I completed a full complement of exercises: sit-ups, push-ups, and curls. That got my blood flowing. It was 56 degrees under partly cloudy skies. Ykraps and I headed out for our walk at 5:45am. Back home, I poured some coffee and then enjoyed it parked in front of my PC. I delivered Mindy’s coffee at 6:10am. Afterwards I opted for a power nap, something I fear I am growing very fond of. I slept until 6:40am, but could’ve slept even longer.
I skipped meditation and moved right to stretching. I headed out the door for my run late – 6:45am. My body is beginning to feel the affects from all the recent physical labor, but nothing was causing me any real pain. Instead, just some very minor stiffness and fatigue. A short distance into my run I was feeling great.
As expected, Mindy & Bella were ready to head out as soon as I made my triumphant return to the house. Mindy had my scrambled eggs covered in cheese and ready to eat. I headed off to the shower a few minutes later. Jacob and I headed for the bus stop at 7:57am.
I left for work at 8:10am. The work day began quietly and never got to the feverish pitch that it certainly could’ve. There was plenty to do, however. I left for lunch near 1pm. I drove to Strader’s eager to get two Hibiscus for our large deck pots. They had them but in very limited quantities. I left Strader’s and drove to Lowe’s where I checked out some Salvia and other annuals/perennials. They had some small, but very healthy looking Midnight Blue Salvia, just like the ones we have planted out front. We need about six more to balance the look in the corresponding bed. I didn’t buy because the beds aren’t quite ready. No sense having potted plants lying around needing watered for a week.
I headed back to the office after being out about an hour. The afternoon went fast. I ate my lunch from my desk and stayed busy until almost 5:30pm. Mindy made burgers for dinner. She started them on the grill but ran out of propane. She had to finish them on the stove. Our propane never seems to last as long as it should. Not sure why. I ate somewhat hurriedly. I badly wanted to get some Com-Til spread before dark. Mindy agreed to do clean-up while I headed out to the yard. I eventually got three trailer loads of Com-Til spread around the backyard beds. The Com-Til dust made my throat burn. Yuck! Satisfied with the progress, I stopped for the night leaving myself plenty of daylight to water the new sod and seed. That work took almost until dark.
Inside, I went to shower and tuck the kids into bed, but they were already asleep. I poured a Rum and Fresca to enjoy as a night cap. Mindy had a sip and liked it much. She didn’t want one of her own. We headed for bed at 9:30pm.
