Sporano's Pizza
I was up on time and happy that it was Friday. I completed some sit-ups and push-ups before setting out on a walk with Ykraps. It was a cloudy start to an otherwise mild spring morning. The forecasted high was 70 degrees under partly cloudy skies. I could deal with that. Even more concerning than Friday’s forecast was the weekend’s. I was much looking forward to completing some yard projects.
Mindy needed to be up a little early and planned to leave the house around 7am in part to be at muffins with mom with Bella. Because of that, I didn’t expect her to be there when I returned from my run, but she was. However, she and Bella were just backing out of the drive as I rounded the curve for home. I wished the two of them well as they drove off.
The remainder of the morning went along as normal. Jacob, Jake & I waited at the bus stop together. I dropped the trailer from the Trooper before driving off to work, choosing to make my drive in a bit more care-free.
The work day moved along nicely up through lunch time. I left the office determined to take care of Mindy’s Mother’s Day gifts. I struggled thinking of what to get her, but ultimately decided on a patio fire pit from me and then some costume jewelry from the kids. I stopped at Target first where I bought a pair of silver dangly earrings and two Mother’s Day cards. Next, I drove to Lowe’s to look at fire pits. They had many options. I ended up choosing a simple model, not knowing how much use she’d/we’d get out of it. All in all, I was happy with the value. While there, I looked at rocks & pebbles to backfill around the patio stepping stones. I didn’t like the selection or the price. I decided to look elsewhere. And since it’s time for planting, I took a stroll through the garden center. Lovely flowers, they always help elevate my mood.
Passing Home Depot in route back to work I popped in there real quick, too, to check out their stones. Pretty much the same offering as Lowe’s. I left still undecided how I would proceed with the final back-fill for the patio.
The afternoon went along smoothly until about 4pm. Sometime mid-afternoon, Courtney left me a VM upset with Joey & Shelly for the way they handled her request to see Kaileigh over Mother’s Day weekend. When I talked with Mindy a short time later I asked if she would call Shelly to try and smooth things over. To Courtney’s point, she’s going to school full-time and working 50-60 hours a week.
Like often happens on Friday’s, things got dicey. I ended up staying at work until 6:45pm working with my team on a couple big issues. I didn’t mind. It was the weekend! Staying late sealed my lawn’s fate. There was no way it was getting mowed that night. But then again, I doubt I would’ve done it even if I had gotten home early.
I stopped at Kroger on my way home and bought Mindy some white roses. I also restocked our Jack Daniels and Captain Morgan’s.
I didn’t get home until after 7pm. Mindy & the kids had already been to the grocery and had everything put away. Mindy suggested we get pizza and subs from Sporano’s, but also offered up the possibility of waiting for the neighbor’s, who were still at soccer practice. I was hungry and suggested we go ahead and eat. Mindy ordered, Bella and I drove to get it. We got a large pepperoni pizza and one large Michael Angelo sub.
We picked up the pizza at 7:50pm. No sooner had we got back home and started eating the neighbors called to confirm plans. Mindy explained that we couldn’t wait and already ate. They understood and ordered their own food too. We agreed to meet at their place a little later, or after we finished our food. Just after 8:30pm we headed over. I poured some Jack Daniels in my ski flask (old cough syrup bottle) and took two cans of Diet Coke. Mindy poured a glass of wine.
No sooner had we arrived when their pizzas showed up. We should’ve waited. The kids were a bit wild, trying at times to listen in on our otherwise adult conversation. We hung out with the neighbors until almost 11pm. I had big plans for Saturday, I really needed to get some rest.
