The Peninsula
I was up just after 7am
I ran to the east and a bit further than the two previous days. I felt really good navigating the serious hills. I returned with a bouquet of wild flowers for Mindy. And yes, Cujo caught up with me again and followed me home.
After breakfast, I gassed up the boat by myself. It was easier than I thought it might be alone. I noted several families hanging out on their elaborate docks swimming and lounging in the lake. Many of the docks have slides and second tiers that are used as a diving platform.
We were in the water just after 11am. Once again, we navigated south to the cove just east of the area called the Peninsula. This time, however, we took a left at the “Y”. This cove was much deeper than yesterday’s. In addition, we came upon some cool rock formations with small caves. The area made for an excellent playground. We hung there all day. Rene swam Bella to shore to take a dump.
Afterwards, we headed out to tube. Mindy & Rene both gave it a go. Rene was noticeably buzzed and subsequently tubed with much more aggressiveness than the previous days. The kids got a huge kick out of her rough ride.
Before heading home, we headed to the marina to gas up for Thursday. While at the marina, Mindy got some Hershey’s chocolate for Jacob, the kids fetched some candy, and Rene a souvenir shirt. After a long day on the lake (our longest), we were back at the house by 6pm.
I napped on the lower level sofa while also doing some reading. Mindy whipped up dinner – spaghetti and meatballs. Dinner was delicious. After dinner, Rene excused herself for a nap. Mindy surmised that she would be down for the night. Was it even possible that I drank Rene under the table? It must’ve been the Jack.
Mindy, me, and the kids went for a walk. I was eager to show Mindy some of the lovely homes. The sun had just set behind the distant mountains and darkness was fast approaching. Jacob complained the entire time we walked. We turned around after a bout a quarter mile and returned home. I think he got to Mindy. I know he was getting to me. Bella was fine walking. She’s much more in tune with nature than her older brother.
Rene woke after we returned. Mindy, Rene and I watched more Olympics after the kids were in bed. After heading to bed for a while, I couldn’t sleep and eventually got up to watch TV down in the lower level. There’s something amazingly comforting about watching TV on the sofa all the while drifting off to sleep. I slept there until morning.
